Mod Podge on melted crayon art?

I want to create a piece of art with melt crayons on canvas but I am concerned that the crayon will evetually chip off after being handled a few times.
My thoughts were to seal it with a decoupe of some sort-anyone have suggestions on whether Mod Podge will suffice?
