Clay plates, bowls, and cups!

I cannot find any tutorials anywhere for how to make dishes with clay! I'm not talking dollhouse sized, I want to make something like the tea sets little girls play with, small but not teeny tiny. Anyone know anything about how to make those or where I can find a tutorial?

I took a few pottery classes and they showed us two ways of making dishes. One was with a mold so that everything comes out the same size and shape. The other was with the pottery wheel, you can pretty much have free range of what size and shape you want them to be. It got kind of expensive to have the clay, tools, wheel, molds, glaze, and kiln. I'm not sure though about being able to just hand shape dishes and how you could get them to be safe to drink out of since al the clay they showed us had to be glazed and fired.

I was thinking along the lines of using sculpey. I could never afford a pottery wheel.

My bf is really into pottery and makes a lot of cups and plates and bowls and things. He's studied it at college but also learnt a lot from watching tutorials on youtube. Try searching for coil pots as you won't need a potters wheel to make them.
