Ideas for a costume party?

My friend is having a costume party at the end of the month and I have no idea what to wear. We can dress up as absolutely anything. My parents are the hectically religious kind that thinks everything is evil, so anything from my two favourites (Harry Potter and Resident Evil) are forbidden =/ so I need other ideas..

WOW, your parents are kinda strict... I like the idea of Christmas elves, especially next month is December! You should be an angel, since your parents don't like anything evil.

But if you want something that your parents might approve of, you could always try an Alice in Wonderland costume!

lol I am a living historian and I met a couple of new enactors this last weekend (two ladies) who are planning on taking part on some sort of pirate adventure and they were talking about the sort of costumes they would be making. They were talking turbans, breeches and hats like Napoleon's. lol!
