That's a tough one. It looks like the side panels go to a 'V' to the side seam. Pity there isn't a picture of the back. It also looks like the top part is a vest shape. The straps from the centre bust up to the shoulder will follow the line of the bra shape and then curve a little to fit to the shoulder.

The fabric has been folded and stitched on the inside (small fold). Looks like it has then been flatterned and stitched through the middle of the original seam so it lies flat. It's quiet a heavy stretch fabric.

If you can get the basic dress pattern with a low cut underbust top section you may be able to draft up a mock pattern in cheap fabric. Then put it on a mannequin (I have a stretch corset on mine that I've stuffed to my shape) and tape the panels in place. Draw on the mock up where the panals are (remember to leave seam allowance), this way you can create the cut outs for the pattern.

hope this make sense x

The only thing I forgot to warn you about is sewing panels into stretch fabric is tricky. Sew the seam towards the bottom of the V along one side like \ . Then sew the other seam towards the point of the V like /. Dont sew down one side, turn, then sew up the other as the fabric will twist at the bottom of the V shape. Remember to snip into the points and curves to make the seams lay flat.
Good luck

Message me if you need any help x

Oh, please do, Cat! I want to figure out a way to do something similar with latex... that's going to be quite the undertaking but if I can make it work it will be worth all the time and effort ;)
