Where to find gears, and other steampunk inspired parts??

My boyfriend and I are working on a few steampunk inspired reconstructions, as well as a few jewelry items and such.
We found an amazing recycling center/junkyard with large bins full of bronze and copper parts for sale.
My main concern is finding cool looking gears, and other small metal parts that would be good for embelleshment or jewelry.

I guess my main question is, what cheap commonly found items can I take apart to find gears of different sizes?
Old clocks would obviously work, I've also heard of old typewriters having gears inside.
Anything else?
You can buy packs of gears on sites like eBay and clock-making sites, but most of them are too artistic and not industrial looking enough.

On ebay you can get cool watch parts. I was looking for a pocket watch and found some under there. Very pretty

check your hardware store too, and of course yard sales and goodwill too. I bought some watchparts online but they are kind of small, I like more industrial, clunkier things. the very best find for me was at this flea market and I got a bunch of old washers, many with teeth/gear like things.
