Suggestion Request from a Greenhorn

I've just gotten my first sewing machine! It's a Singer Inspiration. To be completely honest, I've never sewn in my life. I paint, and have dabbled in various crafts. Can you suggest some simple sewing projects that would help me get started? Thanks in advance!

You could try pajama shorts and a vest top with spaghetti strings. It's mainly straight stitching and no zip. The whole outfit is 4 pieces. I would start by using a cotton mix fabric as this doesn't twist like a stretch fabric would.

A pillow case is another good one for beginners or even a two piece teddy.

You cut out 2 teddy shapes, sew a face on one of the pieces. Then sew all way round leaving a gap for stuffing down one side. Turn the right way out. Lightly stuff the legs and sew across the hip. Lightly stuff the arms and sew across shoulder. Then stuff the head and body and hand stitch the side seam. You can hand stitch through the neck to give more shape to the head if you like. I sewed taffetta on for whiskers

Hope this helps x
