Volcanos !!!!!

Hi Guys,
Just had a thought if UK flight are suspended and other European countries are closing there airports.Think about what you put in the mail.
I have held onto my Serbian swap for a while until the situation becomes clearer.
Has anyone been impacted by this event?

Hi Debs. I work in the post room in our office. A lot of post from UK for Europe and further east goes via the scandinavian countries for sorting. We are still sending stuff out but I think post may end up being stockpiled at sorting depots. Mail can alternatively be transported by ship or rail from UK although it will be delayed. Not sure what the situation is with incoming mail from USA.

A friend of the family, her husband who is due back from Iraq has been delayed because of the volcano ash and closure of flight air space in Europe. Of all things to prevent him to come home a volcano is what is going to make the story a little adventures to tell his little ones.

Some of our local regiment came home a couple of weeks ago. It must be awful for families waiting for loved ones. I remember when my dad was on active service he used to draw funny cartoons for me about what he saw. I still treasure those small pieces of paper from my childhood. I hope he and his regiment make it home safe and soon.

My friend had planned a week away in Ireland and has been told the flight is cancelled and she can't have her money back. So she's thinking of coming to work and booking time off later. Apparently flights could be delayed for some time as the particles were blasted above the cloud level where the planes flly. If they get into the engines they can cause them to stall. Think the geo-physisits are going to be busy and it all depends on the wind direction.

Do you know I hadn't even thought about this. I'm due to post out to Australia so I don't know if that will go out okay. A friend of mine's sister is down from Scotland and she can't fly back as flights have been stopped for now.

Only in Britain!!!!!!
Staff at Bristol Airport have made use of the empty runway to fly kites and run on the airstrip.

Really? Hahahaha that just typical British behaviour!! Although I can't say I blame them, if there's nothing to do, but you have to turn up to work? You might as well have a little fun Tongue

My poor friend is stuck in Barcelona, she's got to be back by Tuesday because we have Uni lectures and stuff!!

One of my workmates got stuck in Lanzerote. The airline has put her up in a five star hotel for free till they can get her home. She must have one heck of an insurance package Happy

That bit about kite flying on the empty airstrips is hilarious. I've been chatting tonight with friends over Twitter and we've agreed that Father Christmas is to blame. His elves decided to get an early start on toy making and all that extra activity has triggered a volcano to erupt. That's the last time I leave milk and cookies out Happy

Kitkat if you wanna hold off on sending until we are certain whether our packages will make it safely to their destinations we can. Mine might have trouble getting to you aswell. I never thought about it either!

Things are starting to get back to normal now. I got an e-mail from my Uni friend that was stuck in Barcelona, she's back now... so things might be ok to send now, unless other countries are having problems??
