Creating a craft Space

I was wondering what other peoples craft areas look like. My sisters just gone off to uni which means I have full rule of a room again, and I'm eager to make a bit of a craft space instead of my current "mess" in and around the living room sofa.

Anyone got any pictures etc? Now I'm just being nosey.

xx

I need to get shelves and a new chest of draws in my room but once I do loads of mess in the corner will go and there will be a nice small space for me to make more mess. There will be a mirror, some pictures, my craft draws and a bean bag to sit on and maybe a little table plus more pictures and a noticeboard thing.

I DRAWED A PICHUUURE

(How come when I save stuff it goes weird like that!?)

The way our house was built originally means there would've been a silly little box room thats got about enough room for a bed and a little wardrobe and nothing else, but the people who lived here before us got a loft conversion done so the box room is now just a front landing with a set of stairs leading up to my room (in the loft).
For years it was kinda just a junk/dangerous items (such as hammers, screwdrivers, paint and white spirit etc.)/precious and valuble things storage room, because my brother being autistic meant that we needed somewhere to lock all that stuff away and that was the best place to do it. But he doesn't live at home now, so the room's been free to use.
We used to have a huge display cabinet kinda thing in there which was just storing junk and taking up space, so my mum donated it to charity and was like "Lets clear it all out and have a craft room!"... but it's gradually finlled back up with all her decorating stuff that she can't be bothered to keep fetching from the shed -.-
So because of the mess I don't have any pictures. The only craft related stuff currently in there is some fabric, the little table we bought to sit and craft at, and a huuuge lamp with a magnifier that my mum got from Freecycle. Hopefully we'll get it sorted eventually, but at the moment I'm not holding out much hope haha.

I started cleaning up my shared room today, as my mum bought me a desk thing with drawers that extends out to a table and I still need to put it together. My problem is too much furniture in not enough space. Just got to convince my mum to get new drawers lol.

I don't even have a wardrobe in my room, I use one of my mums, it's not a box room but it is small and I put things on the floor and don't move them for ages! All I need is shelves and a new chest of draws but we got an Ikea catalogue in the post today (which is weird since my bf was talking about getting something from Ikea) and they have this chest of draws that has cubby holes on top and I think that would be better then having a chest of draws and shelves room would feel bigger. The problem is it's self assembly and me and my mum could probably do it it's just hassle! Also the nearest Ikea is in one of the surroundings towns and we don't have a car.

I don't like the leg things though and I'm gonna have to attach handles onto it because im not using those tag things. But once I get that in the craft corner making thing commences! FUN!

well with this new place I stole the storage/pantry walk in closet. It has a full wall of shelves filled with my supplies that I must organize once I am able to stand up for long periods of time. There is no room for a desk, so hubby told me once I get rid of my wheelchair he will rearange the living room where I have a tuck away corner for a desk so I can work on projects but i have to keep it clean. Happy. I cant wait! cause I will put on that wall my fairy post cards that i framed and my paintings. I might even see if he will let me get a stand up screen to divide my area from the living room. oh ya! Happy

queeny those shelves are amazing!!! I can see why you want them. I'm contemplating finally getting my room sorted this afternoon and making a craft space finally.

Sug's I saw a documentary on Roald Dahl once and he had a huge piece of wood that he'd put across the arms of his chair as a workspace, you could do that with your wheelchair, craft and go hehe. I hope your feeling a bit better and everythings on the mend! xx

omg that would be ace, if the kids needed something you could wheel over to them but you wouldn't need to put down your things, cus they'd be on your lap! Yeh so we went to Ikea...on a Sunday! I didn't think it would be that packed but there was like 5 spaces in the whole car park (and it was a big car park!) so my dad got annoyed and was like 'We'll come back on a weekday, early in the morning or late in the evening!'. I can only go with my dad cuz my mum doesn't have a car (they're divorced) and she's paying for the shelf thing so she has to put the money in my account so i can pay with my card and you can't order the things I want online! Hassle!

I'm also getting these:

Also I bought frames for my pretty pictures I got from New York and Florence (Italy), they look ace! Post pics of your spaces peeeople!

thats an idea with the piece of wood! Brilliant! If i remember correctly we have an extra wooden shelf that we dont use with the entertainment center..maybe I can see if it is long enough for the wheelchair..but if not i can have it on my lap while sitting in bed or the sofa! Happy yayaya

I've got a huge spare room which is my sewing/crafty/study space. It's got 3 large cupboards and even a little sun roof for extra light <3 I have 3 desks (one for my iMac, one for my sewing machine and one huge one for cutting out patterns, making make up etc on. I've also got a small bookshelf with my crafty/inspirational books in it and 2 chests of drawers from Ikea to stuff my overflowing material into.

I'm currently trying to spruce it up a bit and make it look more like my kinda area, but it's not working. I need ideas! I can't paint the walls (because we rent) and I can't hang up anything (again, no holes allowed in walls).
I NEED IDEAS!! ;p
