Make-up

Alright, so I have a very olive toned skin and I am looking for a good foundation (preferably powder) as well as one of those snazzy cover up sticks (damn pimples). I always find that the large percentage of makeup out there that is for lighter skin has a pink base, over an olive base. I used to be super tanned (training outside 4 hours a day), but now i work indoors most of the summer and am not super tanned anymore, I'm actually pretty pale. So when I look for foundation I can't find anything that doesn't look ridiculous because it doesnt match my skin tone properly.

Right now, I have a cover-up stick and foundation from organic that I use but again, its waaaayy to pink toned for my skin, so I actually have to use a bronzer overtop to get a sort of an olive tone (even the bronzer has a lot of pink tones in it).

any suggestions???

you can go to your local mall and head over to the make up counters and ask them to match you up with your correct shade of foundation and concealer...there's all kinds of different brands so there's bound to be someone who can help you out there...Or you can go to http://specktra.net and ask some of the girls right there for some help. theres also a link on the top where it gives you tips to help you find your shade of foundation.

GOOD LUCK
hope it helps you out.

Hey, I'm pretty pale too and I went makeup shopping yesterday! The L'Oreal Infallible products had 3 different tints for each skin tone. I tried all the Ivory foundations on, and IIRC one of them looked really yellow on me. I am peaches-and-cream (pink) so maybe that shade is close to what you're looking for?

I usually just go into a drug store and raid the testers. Put enough swatches on your arm and you're bound to find something that matches decently, right? :b

i wouldn't recommend bare minerals considering i have heard that their products contain talc which will cause your skin to burn, itch and break out. i will how ever tell you about everyday minerals. i use them and i have sensitive skin. i have had no problems so far.

If it's called bare minerals why the hell do they put talc in it!!! How silly are they!! well assuming talc isn't a natural product...I don't think it is.

I'm pale and use Max Factor or it might be Rimmel foundation in ivory or one of the lightest tones anyway, you have to use a pea size amount and dab small amounts from that onto your face and rub it in right to the edges of your face. I then use a bit of powder which sort of sets the foundation in a very pale tone. But I am like so white the light reflects off my skin! So I'd say get an inbetween shade since you've got olive skin or yeh ask an assistant. I just knew i'd look orange if I didn't use the 1st or 2nd palest tones. Make sure to really rub it in down the sides of your face and on your jawline so you rub it into the start of your neck so it all looks even.

When I put foundation on for the first time at about 12 it was hooorrible and i only started using it regularly at 18 and it felt really light unlike the first time and I didn't feel weird wearing it! I only used it to make blusher stay on and now I can't do my make up without putting foundation and powder on first!

p.s Jess and blasianbijin, both of your hair styles looks ace!

hmm, good to know blasianbijin, I went to Organics for the reason that they did not have talc in it like most. I'll have to look at everyday minerals.

Awww, thanks queenfairypants. I think its going to be a lot of testing for me....damn.... and I know what you mean about foundation, I havent really used it much up until this year, and I'm 23.... So I'm still not used to using it all the time, but I think part of that is because I have to layer to get the right shade.

yeh maybe I put too much on that time or they've just improved it now, once when I was little and went to my great grandmas house and my mum found me in my grannys room with a face as white as snow because she had one of those powder pots with talc in and a pink fluffy thing and i covered my face with it! I think it was meant for your body :/

It's mad what we do to ourselves! I like wearing make up and I feel good with it on and don't feel right when I've not done it properly! My boyfriend washes his hair, washes his face, has a shave and cleans his teeth and looks luberly but it takes a lot of products for me to look that good lol and longer!
