First Day Back to School

Ok, so I have an idea for what I want to do for my back to school outfit. My mom is all freaky about "no, your first day back to Green valley [my high school] HAS TO BE SPECIAL!!!" Its my Senior year, and I kind of want to make it be ALL DIY stuff! The jewelry that I've made, I want to make a shirt, my toe-sock gloves, my patch pants, my "plastic fabric" and "plastic yarn" bag, all that crap.

but

I need idea's about what kind of shirt to make.

I want it to be a DIY recycle type of think.

The gloves are recycles old socks, the pants are old t-shirts that don't fit, the shoes have a bunch of patches from old pieces of clothes. The bag is plastic bags, etc.

But I don't know what to do for the shirt! Ack! And its only a few weeks away. I don't really care if I have my "first day of school outfit!OMG GUYS!" lol, but my mom cares, and if I'm going to do it, I might as well do it my way, which is recycled and do it yourself Happy

why not do a rough draft on some paper then draw a -cartoon-hero-version of yourself and draw it on the shirt and with the out fit you draw of yourself either glue or sew different fabrics onto the shirt, you know for the toon's outfit.....or this maybe a silly idea and I will just look all innocent and run out the nearest door. lol

You could make the cartoon version of yourself out of felt applique? The cartoon super hero idea sounds really cool. You could also just wear a plain shirt and bring some colored sharpies to have all your friends sign and draw stuff on.

lol that sounds fabulous! This is why I love this place. When my VERY short creativity runs out, I get OTHER'S creativity Happy lol

you don't have to wear a uniform??? lucky!

one of the ways I was going to customise my school shirt was to replace the boring navy blue buttons with bright colourful one in orange, pink and yellow.

I'm kinda glad we had to wear a uniform I hid in mine a bit! And deciding what to wear everyday was hard in college!
I love that project someone did with felt on a plain tshirt, or you could embroider something cool onto a plain shirt. Well done for going completely DIY!

You like rockabilly stuff, yeah? How about you get a cool cowboy shirt, take it in to fit nicely and either embroider or stencil or iron on some designs =)

yeah I think I'm glad I have to wear a uniform, choosing what I have to wear everyday just becomes stressful when everyone is competing to look really good.

lol its not really all that hard.

I don't really choose an outfit.. its like.

PANTS, I NEED PANTS.. I NEED SOMETHING ON MY LOWER HALF! *searches the house to find something clean* THERE WE GO

now a shirt OHHH, LOOK, THERE'S ONE ON THE BACK OF THAT CHAIR!

Slip on the first shoes I find

grap a handful of jewelry from my box, and put it on in the car on the way to school
Happy

its REALLY funny because SOMETIMES I'll look at myself and think "ohh, I shouldn't have worn this" and random people will come up to me and be like OMG, YOU'RE OUTFIT IS AMAZING, YOU HAVE SUCH A UNIQUE AND CUTE STYLE!" and its just.. hilarious!

99% of the girls TRY SO HARD to look cute and they end up looking lke 10$ hookers [and those are the REALLY classy ones].

true story..

Once, I wore out a button up "goth/punk" shirt [the one in my profile picture] white fake pearls, peace necklace, jimi hendrix button necklace, bright green tutu, black/green stripped leggings, and some pink dock martins, topped off with my black fingerless gloves, A BUNCH of random braclets including some kandi, a blue crochet bracelet, a bob marley bracelet, and a seashell bracelet, and when I was walking to a friends house, 5 people honked and me, and one person actually rolled down their window to tell me how awesome I was. LOL!

I LOVE choosing my own clothes, because they make for the best true stories!

Maybe you should go on a charity shop hop? Go around and find some awesome old shirts and merge them all together. Say have one shoulder from one shirt, the top half from another and the bottom from another one. That would look cool.

Actually you'd think it would be hard to find stuff to wear everyday at college but it's not. Maybe the first week people care, but after that you can wear whatever you want and no one really cares. I like that, cause it means that I don't have to dress up all the time but every now and then I can put on something really nice

I've lost count of the amount of times I've gone to college looking like a complete scruff haha.
I have to leave my house at 7.40, whereas for school I could leave at like 8.30 and still get there on time, so I was completely out of practice at the whole 'getting up and being ready to leave the house before 8' thing Tongue.
What I wear isn't a big deal for me really though, because I'm just a t-shirt, jeans and trainers every day kind of person. I wish I was more adventurous with my clothes *sigh*.

Ouch, and I think getting up at 6.45 is bad haha. Props to you for being able to leave so early!
