I haven't read one in ages... so I'd love some recommendations too!

Highly recommend Night Circus!!!

I recently finished the following books, that I'd highly recommend (some are a wee bit strange, but I'm so glad that I persevered!):

The Lie Tree (Frances Hardinge) - odd book, but a weirdly-brilliant read!
Let the Good Times Roll (Lynda Page)
The Battersea Park Road to Enlightenment (Isabel Losada)
The Miniaturist (Jessie Burton) - EXCELLENT book, in the form of Night Circus
11/22/63 (Stephen King)
The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessy (Rachel Joyce)

What happens in Night Circus? That sounds interesting!

Does anyone have any recommendations for quirky books with a strong female lead? I think those are my fave, so I can live precariously.

My favourite books are The Bell Jar, Go Ask Alice and Memoirs Of A Geisha - so anything similar you've read, loved and could recommend would be amazing! Love

Night circus follows a Magicians competition to determine who is better. But I think it's so beautifully written. Love

Mischievous: the movie for miss peregrines is coming out in September just an FYI.

The last book I read was Meg by Steve Alten. Can't wait until that one is made in to a film.
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline - Good one if you are in to retro games and virtual worlds
Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson
World War Z by Max Brooks - Nothing like the film and loads better. Scared me to death but I can get a bit jittery about zombies
Geek Love by Katherine Dunn
Hollywood Babylon by Kenneth Anger - Gossip and scandals of old film stars
