Sewer pipe leak, ARRRRGH!!!

rant>

Ok now, for those of you who didn't know, I was on holiday for the past two weeks. Everything was wonderful and magic and awesome etc. etc. Then my BF and I got home. AND TROUBLE STARTED! Obviously!

Prologue: I wanted to leave everything nice and tidy before leaving for the holidays, so I took all my stash, some of the items I received with my swaps and the projects I was crafting for my current swaps (including newbies) and packed them nice and tidy in neat, small cardboard boxes. I wrote the content on them and stored them in my storage room in the basement, thinking or retrieving them as soon as I got home from my holidays. Which I did.

ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT, DURING OUR ABSENCE, A SEWER PIPE LEAKED IN MY STORAGE ROOM AND MY STASH, MY PROJECTS AND EVERYTHING ELSE ARE NOW COVERED IN WATER, MOULD AND HUMAN WASTE!

What's even worse, the plumber came this morning and told us that the pipe that leaked is actually made in some parts of asbestos, and this means regular plumbers can't work on it and that we have to notify our landlord, who will ask the city council to remove it, and the thing is going to take TIME. A LOT of time. Time during which the leak can't be fixed and the disgusting stuff will continue to leak from the wall, making the room unfit for storage (or anything else, for that matter). But it's OK. I can live without a storage room if I need to, even if this mean cluttering even more my teeny weeny apartment.

Luckily I was able to save all of my books, my stationery (it was kept safe in a file cabinet) and most of the swap items I'd received in my previous swaps - except the AWESOME knitted hat my newbie Delilah Loyla made for me, which went mouldy. Argh! Another sting to my heart.

What really, *really* bothers me is that I had to throw away FIVE GARBAGE BAGS (the big black ones) filled with stash, material, projects and - what's even more painful - EVERYTHING I was making for my newbies and the monster swap. Booo-hoooo :'(

Nothing that I can't re-make, of course. And, as my BF says, it could've been a lot worse - the leak could have been in our apartment, for instance. *Eeeugh*. Can't even think of it. BUT! This doesn't change the fact that I'm EXCEPTIONALLY PISSED OFF right now.

To all my newbies and my partners in the swaps I signed up before the holidays: it's going to take a little while to re-make all the items I had ready for you, so please be patient. Right now I need a little more time to mourn my loss, find a place in my apartment to store everything I can't store downstairs anymore and swear properly.

Thank you for your patience.

Aww Mary! Thats .....(trying to think of a word that explains it, that doesnt also mean excrement) ......

You do of course now have a good reason to go out and buy new stash.
And if he complains, tell him it's necessary for your mental state, a wee trip to the craft store to stroke some paper and fabric etc will steady your nerves and calm your mood Happy

Keep your chin up chick! xxx

P: I was thinking that too, but didn't want to add to the storage issues by just sending stash stuff!!
Mary, i'm sure if you posted a list of what you really need replaced now, everyone could pick something they could send.
You could always edit the list each time something is promised, then recieved, that way you don't end up with 75 sheets of zebra print felt when you only really need 2 Happy

Hope things don't look so bad as you first thought x

Thank you so much girls, you're so sweet. Luckily now that we're through the worst part (actually going downstairs and throw away everything) me and my BF are starting to see the funny side of it. Especially the way we were rigged out was funny. It had some kind of steampunk flavour to it Happy We took pictures of ourselves in the hallway before going downstairs. This is me: This is my BF: And this is to give you an idea of what we found. It is a picture of what was right inside the door. We took a lot of pictures for insurance reasons, but I'm not putting any more on because it's sincerely disgusting. I'm sure you can imagine the rest. The leak hasn't been fixed yet, but we alerted our landlord and he assured he's taking care of everything, so we don't have to bother about anything else right now. As bindiibabe guessed I don't have the space right now to store more stuff, but you were a sweetie to think about sending me stash and I thank you very much. Well, off to craft now! I have to make up for what I lost! ^___^ PS Pammerz, luckily the fabrics and the other stash you sent me was stored in a wardrobe upstairs and is safe and well. I completely forgot to put them away in the storage room before leaving - I've never been so happy I forgot about something! ^___^

That's an awesome new look you're working there Mary!
VERY Attractive!
I think you should go out dressed like that - maybe you'll start a new fashion trend Happy

Get your basement sorted first, then once you pick up a few storage boxes we can organise "OPERATION RE-STASH"!!

Glad you can see the funny side now Happy
