I totally understand how you feel I've applied at a ton of places and havent gotten any work I own a small photography buisness and that isnt keeping me busy 24/7 so I figured might as well get a second job but that isnt working out :/ Everything eventually falls into place though so keep applying at places and stay positive :]

I'm in the computer help desk field. I'm lucky to have a great contract company who happened to have something opening, so my resume is in for it already. Any luck, and I'll have a job set up before I have to leave here.

*crosses fingers*

I also have a couple of people to re-vamp my resume for.

But in general- the available jobs for my field in the area I live just... aren't there.

Ruby: I've only just noticed your second post!! I know it's a bummer.

I'm totally happy with my 2:2 but it seems that society seem to look on it as a plague and see people with 2:2's as lazy when that's just not the case. I've never been the smartest, I've always been an average grade student so I'm happy with it, it's on a par with a C grade which is what I always seem to get anyways Happy

Totally agree with the overqualified thing, I've sent applications to Nando's, CardFactory, Birthday's and Mothercare's anyway just because you never know, it won't hurt and it'll fill in 4 places on my job centre booklet (not that THAT is my main concern or anything).

The thing is, I really want to get some administation experience down, then I can get into HR Administration then work my way up in HR. They don't look for the degree so much, they just want admin experience but if no-one gives me the chance to learn how on earth am I going to gain the experience?

On one spectrum I'm OVERQUALIFIED and on the other I'm UNDERQUALIFIED so I'm stuck in a catch 22. The only jobs they have lots of for graduates are either sales or recruitment consultancy, but it's not very HR it's more sales based by aiming at targets, trying to get as many people jobs as possible. I'm sorry, I'm not that desperate. Some people are cut out for sales I don't think I would be.

I've tried looking in central london, enfield and out a little bit to hertford. I don't want to go too far because I don't drive so I've got to get somewhere via public transport.

Luckily my mum's boss has agreed to give me a week's work experience next week and he said I could put him down as a reference - YAY!!!

Hey ace on the work experience with your mums boss!!

Totally understand what you mean though. They want experience but if no-one is willing to give you the experience then you got nowhere to go!! Grr. As I'm in my final year I'm going to make sure I go to all the recruitment fairs! Did you get many of those when you were at uni? Did you have the option of doing a placement year?

Just keep going at it though Lolly because you'll feel on top of the world when something does come around! Happy x

Thanks. I didn't go to any graduate recruitment fairs (though there is one coming up soon) and I could have done a placement year, but I didn't want to go and earn for a year and then come back and not want to finish. You had to apply at the beginning/middle of the second year, things were nowhere near as bad back then.

That's all I can do... just keep going.

I quit my job in August after working there for close to five years because I was going nowhere with substituting. I spent six years of my life in school full time and working full time. After two years of trying to get my foot in the door with the schools where I was living... I gave up and moved home with my mom. I was told that I would have no problem with it here. Since then I've only worked one day!!! It's driving me crazy! I need work!

Ruby W: I went round to about 5 shops last week and 4 of the took my CV *yay* but I haven't heard from them *boo*

I also handed in my CV to two other places today, both took my CV but one of them said they'd already recruited Xmas staff BUT they would keep my CV on file for 6 months, which is better than nothing.

Foreverrebel: Sorry to hear about that, that sucks big time.

That's the other problem... Some don't even get back to you, not even to tell you you didn't get it! Grr.

I have positive thoughts going out to you though Lolly and I hope you find something soon! Happy Keep going!!

Thanks Ruby W and I'm going to send out some positive vibes for you too, whether you are outta work or not. I'm having a bit of a bad day, but I didn't go to my work exp today because I had to sign on at the jobcentre so tomorrow may be better, getting into work and doing something Happy
