Dr Who and other sci-fi decoration ideas

So my 21st is coming up and i want to dress up as Dr Who (the 11th one, not necessarily my favourite but I love him all the same and we share hair colour lol) so naturally my theme is Science Fiction.
I've been trying to think of decoration ideas and I don't want to spend a million dollars plus I like to do things myself if possible. i've thought about cardboard cutouts, paper machie and clearly aluminium foil will feature somewhere=] So i was wondering whether any of you had any ideas/suggestions? or any favourites? I may need to suggest characters to some of my less nerdy friends and I've also been thinking about incorporating famous quotes into my invites anything from Dr Who, Red Dwarf, X-files, Star Wars, Star Trek the list goes on... =]
any suggestions?

lol I think you are awesome...fo sho. I dressed up as Ten last Halloween. Happy I own the red converse he used to wear! Ahh! Lol and maybe (if you really love Star Wars) you could incoporate C3PO, R2D2, and/or Yoda? They're the most recognizable characters from the series, and ones that your less nerdy friends would know. why thankyou=] thats awsome=] gotta love DT's style=]. definitely those 3 are in, especially yoda, he's my fav=]. i thought about trying to make my own posters... there is also a cool paper machie creation of yoda on the site somewhere.

I'm not suggesting you paint one of the doors in your house for a party, but this is worth a look at anyway as its awesome.

You could definately whip up some quick posters, but maybe if you had some old sci-related t-shirts you could make them into quick cushions. Theres a tute here:

or maybe just pin them up in a cool way- super cheap, but will hopefully still look funky.

i have seen the amazing tardis door mural! how good is it?! unfortunately im not having the party at my house and we rent so couldnt paint the door anyway... but i did think of doing it on a massive piece of paper and sticking it on the door, thanks for reminding me!

i dont have too many old ones but making cushins is a great idea! one of mine is near retirement but id feel better if i made into a pillow. thanks for the great idea!

I can think of some ultra cheap ideas Tongue Tardis centerpeices (Made from cardboard) Theres an episode with a bin that moves on its own, so you could get a wheelie bin I guess. serve celery like what one of the first dr who's used to wear, lots of quirky things like that Happy
