Skins

So series 1 of Skins has ended. What, if you watched it, did you think?

I can only say that I liked it a lot, and have had 'Wild World' stuck in my head since the last episode.

I think that the thing that Stewart Lee did on Screenwipe about the show kinda sums up my feelings about it. It made me feel sad and alone, and I wasn't entertained at all. I only saw one episode though, so there's a chance it wasn't as vacuous as it seemed.

I loved Skins, can't wait until series 2. I thought it painted a very accurate portrail of youth culture, nevermind what Iain said.

Skins was great...

I kinda wish it was a soap though, rather than having big big big crazy plot twist episodes..

I was totally with it up until the Russian episode which has to be one of the worst episodes of any Brtitish television series I have ever seen.

It did redeem itself afterwards. I do love how Tony is a complete cunt and ther is no rationale for it. just like real life

but big question will channel 4 still be paying his wge come series 2 eh eh?

BUMP.

Hi. I love Skins. I hate myself for loving Skins. Unlike Cat, I think it's the most unrealistic program ever, and the majority of people my age (And the Skins crew are supposed to be my age) are actually nice people who don't sleep with one another and do drugs unrelentlessy an' all that -at least, i think so. I'm a bit of a social recluse so I wouldn't know.

HOWEVER this does not make it unentertaining, and I can still relate to the characters in some shape or form. I love the fact it's not set in London (Shock horror, there are 'cool' people outside London) and I love even more that it's set in Bristol near me because I can recognise the locations and things. I love that at their college they're all learning things that people in my college learn, so when they're in the psychology lessons it's like "Yeah. Yeah I know all about that shiz man" and I love the fact that everyone in it is pretty.

What I love the most though, is that everybody I know watches it. Everybody enjoys it, everybody talks about it. Last series, it was on on thursday nights, the night before my textiles lesson, so on Thursday morning we'd all talk about it as if it was real life and it was really bizarrely wonderful. We didn't have to confront our own problems we could just talk about how much of a bastard Tony is and how cute Sid is and how it really doesn't matter that he's a virgin because he's so damn cool.

This series a bunch of my friends are going to be in it as extras. WHICH WILL BE WEIRD. But fun.

I am so worryingly excited. Is he dead? Is he still singing? Is Michelle still a slut? Questions questions questions!

Skins is so much better than real life.

I hate it. The first episode was great, but then it just went totally bizarre. I thought the writing was awful, acting was awful, editing and directing was awful. I kinda had to watch it though because it's filmed where I live and it was exciting to hear them go like "I'm off to Bradley Stoke" when I know where that is and stuff. And they filmed a lot of stuff on this place called College Green, a goth hangout. And obviously cause I live near, I knew a few people in it, including Sid who went to my secondary school. But the problem is, I know how much of a complete and utter arshole Bailey is, so that ruined the character for me.

I'm not gonna even watch the second series, it doesn't seem worth it.

Wait, which one is Bailey?

my friends and i saw Sid in a little bitty shop in bath once. my friend promptly began to do excited loud whispers that went "IT'S SID FROM SKINS! SID FROM SKINS!"

Mike Bailey is the guy who played Sid. Please don't tell me you think he's hot!

He used to work in the Topshop in Bristol but decided he was too much of a star to work there anymore. He's now completely penniless.

Of course I don't think Sid is hot! he talks like a farmer.

That's how he talks normally!

Everyone seems to think he's hot, but I think that's just cause he's on TV
