My sewing machine is broken!!!

Hey guys! It's meh
ok. so my machine (which is about 10 or 20 years old?) has finally packed up I think. When the needle comes down into the bobbin area, it doesn't pick up the bobbin thread. I have checked, and the bobbin IS threaded properly, and the needle IS the right size. I have serviced the machine and have got my parents to check it as well. Still no joy.

And it's nearly the summer holidays as well, and I was really hoping to do some sewing then. So have you guys got any suggestions on what it could be, or what I could do???

Thank you!
(it would be a life-saver to get it working again!)

PS: the make of the machine is: Brother XL-4011.
(my mum's one that she doesn't use)

Have you tried googling the problem or checking the manual. If you no longer have the manual you might be able to find it online.
Sorry I can't be of more help : (

It could be the timing, which is a minimum maintenance thing to fix that any sewing shop should be able to fix up.
If it's really broken, see if any shops around you will allow you to trade it in for a discount on a new machine.
