oh, you´re lucky!
so, when i was in rome, there were tickets for one day, three days and 7 days, the ticket for three days was about 10 euro i think. when you keep your eyes on your bag and stuff, it should be fine to travel by metro. if you´re ok with undefined departures and arrivals you can use the busses too, but there are no exact times at the stops normally (maybe they´ve changed that, i was there two years ago at last). you can buy the tickets at service points, ticket machines or tobacco kiosks.

Hey Rome is beautiful - you're going to see so much! The card used to be called the Roma Pass and I used it for 3 days I think. The card is used for 2 attractions and for the transport. You can get it from the information centre near St Peters.
Can I come with you???! xx

When i went to Rome (3 years ago) we couldn't figure out how to pay on the bus or trains!! no one came around and checked and the only time we paid was on the underground train thing....not sure if it's still like that now...but if it is, use the buses!!
