Summer crafts

Hi Everyone!

I have been working at a summer camp in California for the last 5 years and have loved every moment of it. I am currently the Art Director and wondered if anyone had any knowledge of where to get camp supplies in bulk. Specifically friendship bracelet threads (Embroidery Floss) or an alternative to them as I have only ever been able to find it in packets of 150 skeins which seems to disappear in a heartbeat at camp!

Thanks!

Well, I searched all the places I thought might have it. As far as getting embroidery floss in bulk, I think your best bet is to get a lot at Michael's or Hobby Lobby or any craft store you have nearby and bring plenty of coupons with you. They usually only allow one of each coupon per customer per day but sometimes there's a 25% off your entire purchase coupon so you could get a lot of large bags of floss for cheaper.
I looked on OrientalTrading.com and could only find packs of 12 for $5 which seems a bit pricy. There's also EverythingCrossStitch.com but they don't directly say how much you're getting as far as units go, but one unit is 69 cents or cheaper.

Micheal's, Hobby Lobby, and JoAnn's usually offer deals to teachers who buy art supplies in bulk. You could also try garage/estate sales and auctions. I've gotten most of my embroidery floss from estate sales/auctions, and I've walked away with a box (the size of those baby diaper boxes) full of floss for $5. And if you're thinking, "auctions actually auction off stuff like that?" The answer: yes. They auction things from cans of soda to yarn. Hope this helps! Happy
