About

New Bio for Terri Rosenthal of Carasan Designs LLC 2014.

Terri is one half of the mother-daughter design duo who are the faces behind a small, but internationally known label, Carasan. She works to this day with her younger daughter Cassandra who works on style and color trends. As the Head Designer and Co- Owner of Carasan, she is best known for beautiful hand knits, hand dyed silk, felted garments, and now, patterns for hand knitters.
She is married, has three children, and five grandchildren. She has been professional designing since she was 16 years old. While living in New York, after she married, she began designing hand knits for local high end boutiques in the New York City area. Then, in the early 1980's she and her family moved to Virginia where she started a small children's knitwear label, Wee Wooly Wear®.
Terri's designs for Carasan opened with wonderful reviews when the label launched in 2001. Carasan has shown during fashion weeks in New York, Metro Washington D.C., as well as Atlanta, Georgia to much acclaim. For seven years Terri was the designer for the Golden Trailer Awards Show. She was also commissioned by “Entertainment Weekly” to create beautiful one-of-a-kind crocheted jewelry for their VIP gift baskets for both the Emmy's and Oscar's. Terri, as designer for Carasan, also designed the organic silk and hemp, Little Black Dress for Summer Rayne Oaks, to be worn and shown on “The Uniform Project”, a charity site for designers and celebrities who wish to raise funds for projects by creating LBD's to be worn for 30 days. The dress was worn for 30 days in 30 ways. All of the profits from this project went to Charity:Water, which builds fresh water wells at no cost in third world countries where there is no access to clean water.
Terri's designs for Carasan have been in independent films, and have been seen in numerous magazines. Her garments and one-of-a-kind jewelry have been worn by celebrities such as Tia Texada and Alysia Reiner, among many others from the screen and stage.
In the last few years Terri became known to the home knitting community when she entered the Vogue Knitting Zealana Designs Contest in 2012, and became one of the finalists, having her beautiful reversible cable knit dress shown during the fashion show at Vogue Knitting Live's Gala Dinner.
In early 2013, she became one of the contestants in the first season of the acclaimed web show, “The Fiber Factor”; a reality style show, in the style of “Project Runway”, but for knitwear designers. Terri was one of the final four and showed her micro collection at Vogue Knitting Live in early 2014.
Since then she has collaborated with Becca Smith of The BagSmith to create a small collection of fun big knits and developed a 3-D style of knitting with BagSmith's Apple Creek Chuck and their Felt Pelts.
She has just finished a micro collection with HiKoo yarns by Skacel that can be found on her company's newly relaunched website: www.carasan.com. Terri is developing a line of fabrics and wallpaper from her original art work that you will be able to find at Spoonflower.com.
Terri's style of design for her label has been described by “Fashion Mannuscript Magazine” in April 2005 as “one that transcends time”. These are items you will want to pass down to your daughter. The Carasan woman is the soul of a Victorian socialite born into the body of an urban artist. She is a woman of today who wants fun and exciting clothing that will last season after season."
Terri lives and works in Purcellville, Virginia.
