Shop name

I'm just looking into setting up my website, etc. I've always wanted to call my shop 'Vanity Flair'. There are no specific internet shops with this name that I can find. But I did find an Etsy seller with this name. So I was wondering whether an Etsy/ Ebay shop name is a brand or more of a user id? Obviously the last thing I would want to do is step on anyone's toes or upset them! So... Any advice on the etiquette of usernames and shop names would be much appreciated! Thanks ^^

The attitude I took when naming MY shop/brand is that if someone else has the same/a similar name, but they don't seem to have much of a presence in your area, online, or in artisan circles, the name is fair game--especially if you think you will do the name justice better than the other person.

Of course, I also have very few friends, so.... :-P

find out if the name is registered as a business name, you can hold the same "business name" as long as it is not in the same county.

Thank you for the tips; I really appreciate your advice ^^ Yes... I think legally I'm okay with using it... And I really love the name. But do you think it is okay ethically? Maybe I should message this person... Our styles are very different!
