Where has been the coolest place / hotel you've stayed in?

I love staying in quirky hotels, theme motels and unusual places around the world. Share where you've been so we can fill up our travel wishlists!

I'll start with Dog Bark Park, a giant beagle shaped bed and breakfast we stayed in while road-tripping through Idaho. It was so cool, the owners are so lovely and they filled our fridge with tasty snacks. It's the dream place for anyone who loves dogs!

I've not stayed in any themed or unusual places but my favourite place was Ruthin Castle in North Wales. They have peacocks roaming the grounds. When we stayed it was mating season and in our room were some ears plugs and a postcard from the peacocks apologising for the noise. The grounds are also meant to be haunted by the grey lady and while we were looking for the grave one of the ground keepers asked if we wanted to go in to the dungeons and look at the bats. I adore bats and it was the only time I had seen them roosting besides on the telly.

Ohh that looks amazing @pixiefey - we really need to spend more time exploring Wales.

The closest we've got so far was a treehouse pod in Cornwall. The pod was really cool but the people running them didn't seem to care which was a bit disappointing. Sad

Elsamere Lodge in Kenya where Joy Adamson (seen "Born Free"?), her family, and Elsa the lion used to live. The house has a cool history and is right next to a lake full of hippos; you actually have to be careful going out at night so you don't come face to face with one!
