Fundraising Ideas

I need help with Fundraising Ideas.
I am hoping to do this massive hike/walk in a few months. The kicker is that the organization wants me to raise a certain amount of donation towards a charity before mid April and they won't let me walk (I will need to double it 1 month after the walk). So far I have zero. I have asked my friends and family but no one is willing to help. (I think my family is waiting to see how much I need closer to the deadline.) I even tried to say 'for X amount of a donation I will send you something.' Sadly, still no bites.
I listed items on ebay and the money will go to the charity. Co-workers aren't willing to help because there are 4 of us in the same walk. I am so keen on doing this that if I do walk, I would be willing to walk in onsie cat suit, just to try to get more donations (during the walk).
I can understand why people may not want to contribute. Many of them don’t know that there is fundraising requirement. (I don’t really want to tell him.)
Anyone have any other ideas for fundraising? Thanks in advance

Asking stores and other companies to sponsor you could help... Just find a place and time to advertise for them. For example, you could make sure their logo is on your shirt when you're participating in the walk (pin it, sew it, paint it,....)
And then there's traditional things like selling cookies, lemonade,... Try making something original, so everyone would want to try it out.

I made a couple hundred dollars in one weekend selling baked goods outside of a resturant (for a charity the resturant was supporting). You might try something like that.

I actually sell my plushies and jewelry sometimes and you could volunteer in a zoo or an orphanage or a nursery school!

You could start a facebook page for people to get updates and learn more about your preparations for the walk. It could link to a justgiving page so people could donate there. Also if you have twitter use this too. If in doubt add lots of cute pics of cats & dogs to remind people of why the cause is important.

Shoot, I am sorry to read this so late! I would bulk order (or ask for donated) wildflower seeds and sell them as a fundraiser. You could offer to spread their seeds as you go or ask them to plant them in support of your effort.

I also raised a bunch of money for ACS by putting all names of cancer victims, survivors or fighters on my shirt with or without donation. I walked with over 500 names on my shirt and $4,000 to ACS.

Sannes idea is a good one. Sell seeds and write names on shirts. Take pictures of yourself on teh hike with shirts, planting seeds and post on FB with continuing opportunity for people to join your 'path'.
