    WTF ETSY.....

Started about 1 year ago · Last post 9 months ago · Displaying all 13 Post
so I have seen posts on here on how Etsy is overpriced and snobby sometimes, but man.........how I hope this isn't someone's store that has an acct here, but seriously...

    http://www.etsy.com/listing/96124254/modern-sterling-silver-necklace-simple?ref=fp_treasury_1

$58 for a circle.....on a chain. A CIRCLE people........ I don't care if it is hammered or what, $58 is stupid.

Then in the description....ORGANIC. really? wtf.....organic..............omg..........hahaha

then you see their feedback and how many sales they have had and it is like a joke. I see so many people including myself, who put more work into awesome detailed items and sell them affordable and have very little to no sales...........

    ok vent over!

Some stuff on Etsy is really pointless. But at the same time, some people try to charge a lot more than something is worth, and if someone buys into a whimsical description, the shop owner just made $50.

That's what Regretsy is for, though, pointing out stuff like that and mocking it.

yeah it is just disheartening to see that someone can sell that for THAT! and they SELL it! when I see so many ladies on here who put a lot of effort into their work and have very little etsy sales.....but yeah........

A lot of people on Etsy sell crap for way over-priced amounts because it "is their art" and yeah, it is, but seriously. Take into account if it is something you know people want to buy and you want to sell, you can't expect people to pay that much if you really do want to sell it. Pick a good price so people can't stand not buying, ya know? The people on Etsy need to think about how much the materials costed, how much time, effort and other charges went into it. Then put yourself into the buyers shoes and think about how much you would pay for it, and add an itty bitty bit after how much you would reasonably buy it for. That is what I would do. Anyways, I totally understand what you mean.

yeah I emailed it to my husband, that link, because it is when they called it "organic" I lol'd like really? haha but you know, the wanna be hipsters will probably pay it, just because they used the words, "organic, and geometrical"

I understand that someone probably put a lot of effort into it and actually want to make a bit of a profit off it but the materials didn't cost that Esty-er to make a circle on a chain. If anything, you could probably buy a thin circle like that at a local craft store and a chain at any jewerly store like Claire's.

It'd be a sum of about $20; so the whole point of selling it for $50 is just ridiculous even if you managed to put a bit of work into it.
