How old are your daughter and her friends? Also, what's the theme of the party?

Candy always makes a good filler, so do fresh cookies.

how about friendship bracelets, or mini pinata's? Even a tiny cushion in maybe a heart shape with their initial on and filled with toy stuffing or lavender and attach a hanging ribbon, stitch your childs name or the date of the party on the back

why not bracelets for the boys too! Obviously more *manly* ones but they're young enough to want the same as everyone else!

personalise little notebooks - either make your own or a cheap pack from the poundshop and decorated. Notebooks have always gone down well in this house - you can find one with just a couple of pages scribbled on in any corner or box!

also, are you making your own party bags? Coz then they can double as contents too!

Maybe you can make broke crayon molds and stack them in 3 and wrap ribbon around it. My daughter is 4 and she loves those things http://ny-image3.etsy.com/il_570xN.149262607.jpg or another idea for crayons could be mini crayon wraps with enough sections to put the basic 8 crayons. (if you sew) http://www.greentreegallery.co.uk/images/gallery/textiles/crayonwraps2.jpg
you can make felt finger puppets or make them a little smaller so they can go on the ends of pencils. http://posts.tryhandmade.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/zoopup1.jpg
kids really like pouches, bags and change purses that they can put there stuff in. My daughter calls hers her treasure bag and puts random stuff she finds in it and carrys it around the house. lol, so maybe for your actual gift bag you can make draw string bags or something ( again, if you sew) Also-you can make these super easy hair pin bows http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/hair-bow-pins or hair clippys http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/cute-felt-bows. If you didnt want to do candy you could make some kind of homemade trail mix with raisins, nuts, chex cerial etc. hope some of that was helpful.

cupcakes? umm...trying to think of what I liked when I was little... yummy-smelling lip gloss, finger-paints, sparkles, anything colourful will work. A colouring book and giant crayons would be fun for them too. Maybe with a sheet of stickers as well. I babysit at the moment(A 7 and 11 yr. old) and they love crafts, so maybe a craft kit that they could put together at home, like a t-shirt they can paint or tie-dye. That's all I can think of... Good luck! Happy
