Sorry to ask, but who are cosplayers? Is it some type of style?

Cosplay is short for Costume-Play. :)
It's huge in Japan, and has quickly spread all over the world.
It's mainly dressing up as an anime/manga/video game character, and going to anime conventions (or as I call them, Nerd Fests).
You can dress up as anything you want.
    It's so much fun!
My latest costume I'm going to be is Rikku from Final Fantasy X.

you know i have thought to myself how cool it would be to go to those things - i love so many anime series, but i'm a big girl and there are no big girls in anime so i would just look kinda stupid i think. i might be able to pull off Millie from Tri Gun, lol, but that's about it

What about a Tsunade cosplay? You know, from Naruto? :)

They are quite a lot of fun when you get a chance to go. My next one is in April. :)

I am hoping to cosplay at an anime con next year, as this character http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/File:ChiakiTenno.jpg
I was teasing my husband that we should go another day as Sebastian and Ciel from Kuroshitsuji, but he thought that it would be wierd for his wife to be dressing up as a 13 year old boy :P
hopefully I'll finish the sewing in time, and be able to afford to go to the con in general.

In theory I should be doing my first cosplay in May at the MCM Expo in London. It's at my GF's insistance, so she's doing most of the work, I'm just funding :)
We're both pretty solidly built but that's not stopping us going as Kyoya and Tamaki from Ouran High School Host Club.

My kids are all into Japanese anime in a big way (my fault lol), Bleach in particular so my eldest one (she's 12) wanted to go as Rukia Kuchiki for Book Character Day at school (book/graphic comic, same difference lol). She didn't win but I have a few pics up of the shinigami costume I made practically from scratch for her. I wouldn't mind but her 5 year old sister now wants to be Yachiru Kasajishi. :D

I'm not into anime or Manga But I do love to cosplay. Me and my friends dress up and go to conventions and make signs saying free hugs lol. I always go as something out of a movie or Tv series and my friends go as things from video games and Mangas. I'm new to cosplaying but i love it and I went as a mix between the cheshire cat and the mad hatter. The mad catter and it was incredible fun ! we live an hour or 2 away from the Birmingham convention centre in england so they put on lots of events. My next cosplay outfit will hopefully be Neytiri from Avatar Ive allready made her necklace !

Oh, I knew I couldn't be the only person XD I'm a baby cosplayer though; I haven't done it much. So far I've gone as Mrs. Lovett, Esme Cullen, Rachel Berry, Sarah (from Labyrinth), and I'm planning a "Victoria" costume for seeing 'Eclipse' with some friends, and I have plans for a Red Queen costume...Nothing makes me feel nerdier, but that's what makes it fun, right?

Cosplay is one of my favorite things to do. I finished my first cosplay projects last year (Sailor Moon and Sailor Mini Moon Super S) and plan to do more (Haruhi Suzumiya, Vampire Knight, and more). Though I make the term "cosplay" go farther than anime. I apply cosplay to books and movies and artists like I "cosplayed" for Halloween as Sweeney Todd one year and Harry Potter for 3 years in a row and Micheal Jackson this last year. I also cosplay when I go to movies I know I'll love. I wore a Victorian outfit to go see Sherlock Holmes. I was going to dress up as the Mad Hatter to go see Alice in Wonderland but totally missed my chance because of too much school work. I sometimes even cosplay on any random day in public. Two weeks ago I walk around the campus of my college wearing a Renaissance Pirate outfit for no reason at all. I love to cosplay. Period. (even though I stretch the rules)
