TextWall

Alright, so I have a class that requires a big project, called a TextWall. Everyone is to build a 400mm x 400mm x 800mm box with a word on it, then the box needs to be decorated with something that describes that word. Also, its mandatory to use recycled materials to create this box. I have no idea what to do right now with it. I have a bunch of paint cnas, I was thinking of using those and putting the word Garbage? on the front, but I am wondering if that is just too literal...

Any Ideas?

Does the word have to be to do with a certain theme?

The first thing I thought was to use news or earth as the word, then you could use recycled newspapers to decorate the box. You would have the text parts of the newspaper, and you can have pictures as well.

Orrrr you could have glass or drink or alcohol (*gasp* :p) as your word, and then use broken pieces of glass from bottles to decorate the box. It might be a bit dangerous smashing loads of glass up though haha.

Hmm, I'll give this a bit more thought and I'll probably come up with some better ideas. This sounds like a fun project Happy

If there's a large scope, you'd do anything. As a media whore I'd love to get a ton of newspapers and make the word "TERROR"

Gosh, it's awkward that you have such a massive scope.

If I were you I certainly wouldn't put the word on there, (or do you have to, and have I missed the point? if you do, make sure it's super small.)

i'd just attempt to illustrate that word through pictures.

I guess I'd probably be all modernist and write "(silence.)" really really really tiny in the middle. Or, I'd find it printed in a newspaper, for the recycling.

I guess I'd use all text to illustrate the word, and write it in a way that demonstrates what it means. Typography love!

Clostraphobic!!!! Space!!! those describe the box though really.

Recycle!!! but someone else might have done that...I like the idea of 'inanimate', cuz I can never quite believe that something is actually inanimate, you could paint a face onto it, sort of ironic but you might get a shit grade for doing that though!
