When did you first get in to cooking and do you remember the first recipe you tried?
I first started baking when I was a freshman in college and I want to say the first big thing I ever made was a Cooking Light White Russian Tiramisu.
What's your kitchen like and how do you keep organized when cooking?
My kitchen is an open kitchen with white cabinets and stainless/black appliances. It's not my dream kitchen, but it definitely allows me to work my magic! As for keeping organized while cooking, I like to clean as I go. That way, you don't get overwhelmed at the end with a million dishes in the sink and tons of ingredients on the counter. I put everything back as I use it.
What tips would you give to someone wanting to become a better cook?
Keep trying because practice helps improve your skills. Also, watching cooking shows was a huge part in my cooking education. You learn great methods from the chefs on television!
Who would you invite to your dream dinner party and what would you cook for them?
I would totally invite the Duchess of Cambridge and talk princess and mommy. I'd cook the classic tea party fixings like petit fours, cucumber sandwiches and, of course, tea.
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
I love decorating cookies and playing my flute/piccolo!
Which cooking blogs do you love to read?
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
In addition to my food blog, I also have a baby blog (crackers & carrots - http://chocolateandcarrots.com/crackersandcarrots) specifically dedicated to all things pregnancy and baby!
