What is the diffrence?

What is the diffrence between a ball point needle and a normal one? CAn I still use a normal one or what??

a "normal" needle you can use for most woven fabrics. a ball pointed needle is for jersey and knitted fabrics. the point of the needle isn´t that sharp like the normal ones are, it is rounded. so, when the needle is sinking into the e.g. jersey, the point pushes the threads aside instead of just rushing through and possibly hurt the thread and causes a hole.
hope you understand the difference. i think it´s better to use every fabric with the matching needle.

phew, i don´t know if that works because it´s not perfectly rounded but cragged then and the threads break (at least in my head it makes sense) i wouldn´t try this, or just on a scrap of the fabric! i would rather use a normal one in this case!
