there's also artfire to sell items. can't tell you much about any of them though.

Etsy has the most unique daily visitors out of all of the craft-selling websites. It's not a bad site if you have a few dollars to start up. Having a PayPal account is really helpful, too.

The only thing I don't like about Etsy is their cutesy BS emails where they tell you how to make money... those usually just tell you to take good pictures, but it's phrased a different way twice a week.

isnt etsy free to start a selling account? Why do you need money to start up? (Ive been thinking about selling there too)

(someone feel free to correct me) etsy charges for each item that you post and also charges you when that item sells. opening a shop is free though.

Etsy charges 20 cents per quantity of a listing, and a 3.5% commission on each sale.
Artfire is free if you post 12 or fewer items. To post more, you need to be a premium subscriber, but they have no commissions or listing fees.

I find Etsy easier to navigate as a buyer and a seller. (and you can unsub from the "Etsy success" emails if they irritate you.) The cost of listing items doesn't worry me, it is a lot less than you would pay if you were to put your stuff in a bricks and mortar shop on consignment etc. and I am happy to have a shop set up with customers already coming through and someone else can do all the tricky stuff, like website set up etc.

I prefer etsy as a website. It seems more popular.
