Learn to embroider with free patterns by Kelly Fletcher

Embroidery is the "it" girl of the needlework world right now and you can learn or practise your stitching with free patterns for modern embroideries designed by me, Kelly Fletcher. They'll be rolled out during the week starting 17 September, when I'll be your Sewing Superstar of the week! So you'll get a new free pattern, with a download, every day for seven days.

It's easy to get started with hand embroidery and it's relatively inexpensive, as all you need is a piece of fabric, a needle, some thread and preferably an embroidery hoop. And my stitch ebook in convenient PDF format, 120 Embroidery Stitches, shows you step-by-step how to do all the various stitches – the fun part! Once you're done with the free designs, I have more than 130 fresh and original designs for you to choose from for your next project.

I'm a largely self-taught hand embroiderer who grew up with needles and thread, fabric and yarn. I create content for magazine, book and kit publishers worldwide, design hand embroidery patterns for my online shop and am the author of Embroidered Home and 120 Embroidery Stitches. I love creative surface embroidery with its many different stitches and enjoy putting a contemporary spin on traditional stitches and techniques to create fresh designs for modern embroiderers. And if I can encourage just a few of you to pick up a needle and give embroidery a go, then my work is done.
