Girl Gamers

The first game I played was Wolfenstein 3D when I was 4, and I haven't stopped since so I'd consider myself a gamer. (Animal Crossing is freaking amazing, zootm. You must buy it.)

The Frag Dolls piss me off, though. They're wayyy oversexualized, and they all have stripper names. They don't exist to remind girls that they're allowed to do boy things. They're just wank fodder.

yeah, I have no issue with girls who play games, of course, its ones who think they deserve some sort of special treatment!

I have Umbrella Chronicles for the Wii and I love it, since i'm a Resident Evil nut, and Devil May Cry 4 on my 360. I love Tomb Raider as well, and some girly games are great - I'm a sucker for puzzle games, the Sims, and I liked Animal Crossing.

I love gaming, been that way because of my brother (he always got the cool consoles and would try to hide them from me). I remember the atari my family had, but I think what first really turned me into a gamer-holic was FFVI/FFIII, the Blockbuster rental that really started it all. Don't get me wrong, I was all into our Nintendo (won it for the family from some random contest), but that RPG really made me realize just how much I love sitting down to play.

I also agree about the Frag Dolls.. they just don't impress me one bit and look more like wannabe booth babe adverts. I don't care if I'm a girl gamer, I do care that I'm a gamer.

Oh, and I love RPGs, Puzzle Games, Action Adventures, Platformers, practically anything but Flight Sims and only recently had my old coworkers introduced me to how well I do with Kar98 back when we were testing COD2 (much to their dismay). I've toned down from gaming a lot, but I'm a habitual MMO wanderer and like trying all the free-to-plays out.

I LOVE final fantasy 3 on my ds and I only really bought it because of the cute characters lol but I really like playing it.

The whole "girl gamer" concept has always irked me somewhat... It just seems to be girls who play MMO's or have something by Nintendo...

I'm a girl, and i play games. But i wouldn't call myself a girl gamer, just a "gamer". I don't see, and never have seen, why there should be a seperation there between guys and gals. A gamer's a gamer. We're all cut from the same motherboard :p

Oh my god... I just googled "Frag Dolls" (I had NEVER even heard of them) only to find they are sponsored by Ubisuck (My boyfriend works for them). That's precisely what's wrong with women and gaming... So you're a girl, and you play games, so what?? You want a freaking medal XD There's oodles of us, almost every girl plays games of some sort. Ack.
So many things wrong with that i don't even know where to start XD

I LOVE games, especially because I've been rather sick lately, so I've had to stay in and no go out to party I'm more of a consol than a PC gamer though. Like I LOVE the Devil May Cry Series and Gear of War , and whenever I go to my friends house, we always play Halo 2 or Guitar Hero 3 [I CAN PLAY 3 EXPERT SONGS NOW, I'm so happy because I remember when I started, I couldn't play the blue ] but unless someone brings it up, usually noone that I don't know personaly knows that I play games. I kind of don't understand why a girl would say they played games if they didn't... thats like saying "I like coca cola" when you don't.... there are no benefits for saying you do it... so why even do it? Its so random, lol.

My three year old niece has been playing Super Mario Brothers three and Super Mario Sunshine. The next generation of geeky girls is off to a good start. I'm so proud.

I always think the 'girl gamer' thing is funny. So many people make a big deal out of it just because it gets them attention/freebies from the desperate sort of guy gamers. I'm actually an officer in a huge all-female WoW guild, and most of the people in it joined to avoid that kind of thing. SO many girls in my guild left their old ones because the guys wouldn't take them seriously, or wouldn't stop harassing them. either they'd be treated like idiots, , or be constantly flirted with and sucked-up to. so many of the guys seem to expect us all to be the Frag Doll wanna-be type. they expect us to flirt, to cyber, to be their 'internet girlfriend,' and to need their help with everything. and if we're not interested in that, and we just want to play the game, we must be "fat ugly bitches". or lesbians, that's a common 'insult'. so ironically, to get LESS attention from guys (OMG girl on vent! r u hot?!) we just play with other girls XD.

and I don't even consider myself a 'gamer.' I only play WoW.

some just want find other gamers to get tips from and stuff like that...i don't consider myself a "gamer" cause i don't like labels but i do play some games...if you get annoyed by girls posting stuff like that then maybe you shouldn't read them...Not all "girl gamers" post threads with bad spelling btw...i have excellent spelling and grammar i just chose not to imply them and maybe they do too.

I've recently enjoyed Halo a bit much, played Guild Wars (still do a bit), and mastered every pokemon game. I really really really love GTA as well.
And that, by no means, will ever make me a gamer. EVER.
Now, my boyfriend on the other hand......
He's either playing games or making them. THAT'S a gamer.
If there was a girl like that, then that would be a gamer too, I guess.

We were on XboxLive playing Halo 2 and GTA4 and we were just talking to people, AND SOME DIDN'T BELIEVE WE WERE GIRLS! And when we did convince them, they were like, "well are you fat"...

I was so confused?! Can someone sound fat? We were apparently either NOT really girls, fat, ugly, or lesbians. It was SO FUNNY! The ONLY person we did get one of those from was this drunk depressed nazi guy who's girlfriend left him for some guy or something.. idk. lol. but it was REALLY funny.
I love drunk people on xboxlive.. its just amazing!

I've gotten that too! One particular annoying guy kept begging for full body pictures so I could "prove" I was female. (Riiight.) I think some of those guys are just shocked that a decent-looking straight female would actually bother to communicate with them. xD

actually, i'm a hardcore gamer, and i just happen to be female.. [by hardcore, i mean i spend a hell of a lot of time on video games, just because i enjoy them.]
i didn't become a gamer to impress boys or for any stupid reason like that.
i've been playing games since i was very young, because i'd see my brother playing video games and i enjoyed watching him play.

but if any female female plays video games just to impress a guy, i do find that extremely retarded.

I'm not a Gamer but I enjoy videogames. Since I was a little girl we always had a videogame console in home.
Saturday afternoons have become in a ritual for my brother and I, we always play Star wars battlefront every afternoon.
