Have you seen the toilet roll wall art that you could make and then blue-tak to the wall - no painting, no glue and nothing permanent!

WELLS, I don't know what your style is but here is what I did.

I decorated one side of my wall with photos that I took with my friends and random things. Instead of one HUGE picture frame, I made a grouping of different sized pics. It looks pretty coolHappy

And while digging in my basement, I found some leftover picture frames. I spray painted them white and use them as jewelery holders.

Other random ideas that I have been meaning to try:

You could pick up a string of fairy lights and hang them against the wall. In my lampshada tute you can see mine in the background of the pic. Sparkly without leaving a permanent trace and not expensive. They don't heat up so its safe.
A friend of mine did the same after seeing mine but she has them set to flash which is a bit much.

I stuck cable grips into the ceiling and hung little coloured mirrors from them, put glow in the dark stars in between them and made a gargoyle which I stuck on the wall.

Hmmm. If your open to painting, you could try painting your walls. I personally like having one wall a bright/popping color. and the surrounding walls to compliment it.
If you can't paint, try add a lighting flare, like paper lanterns, or star ornaments like:

If you want a more intricate flare, try tea light wall holders like:

A simpler and cheaper idea would be to make a display board to cover a good portion of the wall. Then you could decorate it with pictures of your friends, family, etc. and also magazine clippings or stickers. Anything really....
Also you might want to try adding curtains, or blinds as a finishing touch. It could make a difference sometimes. I personally like lace curtains since they produce an elegant atmosphere.
Hope this helps you!
