Christmas Present #1: Emily!

Well, I know Christmas is a ways off but I always start planning around October due to my complete lack of decisions (I can't even decide if my favorite color is blue or pink XD) so I'm starting way early this year. I figured I'd go by age for presents, so first up is my friend Emily.

She's six years old and she loves ladybugs like crazy. She's prefers a big bundle of tiny things rather then one big thing (Such as, a container of tiny gummy bears over the giant, monster bear), so I'll go by those guidelines to make lots of tiny ladybug things..

Okay, so far my ideas are:
1: A ladybug backpack. She'll think it's just a backpack, but when she un-zips it, there will be ladybug lollipops, a ladybug plushie (she keeps asking for more of these even though ive already made, like, five...), ladybug stickers, a ladybug coin purse, some ladybug hairclips, a ladybug magnet, ladybug keychains, and whatever else I think of. Basically, this is like a gift basket. Except, I doubt this will cost $80 like most ladybug ones I've found..

2: A ladybug pillow. Something big enough to sleep on but small enough to play with. I know she likes little things, but this is something she doesn't actually have in her bedroom (already have bedding, wallpaper, fan, desk lamp....), so it might be a nice idea.

3: A ladybug piñata. I might include this with the pillow, if I do either one, since I can't put anything mentioned in #1 due to the brutal beatings (haha), so it wouldn't be much of a present by itself..

So, let me know whether 1, 2 or 3 is best and post your own suggestions if you have some =)

(Also, I'm sorry for the long post D= And I'm really, really sick of saying ladybug.. I said it 14 times... Gaahhh...)

Aw, thanks. I like #1 too. It'll take awhile, but it has a lot for her to play with and a lot she can re-use (especially the backpack!)... Besides, its not like I'm very strapped for time. I've got about three months, and I don't think it'll take long once I decide on fabrics.

Speaking of which, how should I go about this.. I was thinking black fabric for the base of the backpack, red fabric straps, red wings and an embroidered face. I don't think I'll add legs, but I'll try to make the wings move-able, so they kinda "flap" when she walks. I might also add a felt lining; I have this adorable white felt with ladybugs on it she would love.

What do you think? Sound good, or should I add a different lining, or legs, or doll eyes, or...? I've never made a backpack, or anything this big, so I'm not sure how to go about it x_x;
