What to do with old bras

Started over 1 year ago · Last post over 1 year ago · Displaying all 12 Post
I have quite a few old bras that I've grown out of or just don't want to wear anymore. I don't want to throw them out because I know I can use them for other things. I've used one for shoulder pads in a blazer and I've used one for making my bikini top looking even more awesome on me. So I want to know if anyone has any other ideas? I'm pretty much only interested in what they do as far as clothing... I'm not really a tea cozy, go out in the garden or make a lamp thing kind of girl.

There's always the option of donating them if they aren't worn out.

You could turn one into a purse... look up bra purses on Etsy, there are some interesting things there.

there's some fundraisers that collect old bras and then companies donate money based on how many bras there al. you could always see if they do that in your area.

You could buy cool fabric (comic print, newspaper print etc) and sort of 'cover them' to make a really interesting bra for the ones that fit.
And you could use the cups from the small ones to make a swimsuit.
I like the purse idea though!!

If they still fit, you can bedazzle them. I glued rhinestones all over one of my old ones or you could glue a shell over each cup and make it into a mermaid bra.

Chris March turned one cup into a facinator hat.

Also taken by the bra come pin cusion idea! For bras that fit, how about gluing scraps of leather/velevet/lace/ribbon to it to make a custom raving top?

Lol Thanks, I love novelty pincushions (I'm going to make a hedgehog shaped one and use pins as spikes).
I like EJ's idea too. Also you could use t shirt iron ons, fabric paint or dye to jazz the ones that fit up a bit.
