Hey there, can you introduce yourself?
I'm a long term hobby baker passionate/ bordering on geeky /about all things pastry, cake and sweets related. I recently opened a small bakery on Columbia Road in East London and finished working on my book Sweet Tooth.
Tell us a bit about the book?
It's a collection of all my experience and knowledge gained so far - its intended to be a long term kitchen companion to any baker, from any level of experience. I try to explain in depth the science and method behind many of the simple building blocks of baking and then show how creative and versatile you can be with combining them.
What was the inspiration behind it?
I wanted to create the baking book I always wished I had - educational, pretty & inspiring.
Which is your favourite project?
I can't choose one!
What is your craft space like?
It's a dream world for me. quiet & tucked away so I can bake in peace during the week, then bustling with life on a Sunday - the only day we open.
Have you always been creative?
Not really - I was quite bookish and nerdy growing up - I studied Philosophy, but my strongest creative outlet has been baking.
When did you first start crafting?
I remember making jam tarts as a really little child. I'm sure they were awful.
Who are your crafty heroes?
I love the Tartine bakery books - both the bread & pastry books are really inspiring.
Where do you find inspiration?
On the internet! also in galleries, old books, occasionally other bakeries --
