Meet the Author

Hey there, can you introduce yourself?

Medium bath3

Hello, I'm Aimée, blogger and recipe developer over at Wallflowergirl.co.uk. I love creating recipes, particularly allergy-friendly recipes, and working on craft projects.

Tell us a bit about the book?

Coconut Milk Ice Cream is a recipe book filled with healthy, vegan & gluten-free ice creams and other frozen desserts. You can expect to find all the classic flavours such as vanilla, cookie dough and mint chocolate chip to more unusual flavours such as wasabi, chocolate & beetroot and basil & mint. The book also includes recipes for ice cream sandwiches, milkshakes, popsicles, sauces, cones and lot's more!

What was the inspiration behind it?

I've loved coconut milk ice cream since the moment I first tried it a few years ago and have been making it regularly ever since. Through trial and error I've worked out how to make the "perfect" coconut milk ice cream and wanted to share all my recipes with my readers and those who are looking for a healthier ice cream free from animal products, gluten, grains, soy and refined sugars.

Which is your favourite project?

The Lemon Poppy Seed Muffin flavour ice cream is probably my favourite but the Salted Caramel and Mayan Chocolate flavours are very close behind.

What is your craft space like?

I can't help but be a bit of a messy cook. Especially when I'm experimenting and I don't quite know which ingredients I'm going to be using and how much of it I'll need, things can get a bit chaotic... But I'm always happy cooking, even in the mess! When it comes to writing, I need to be free from distractions so I write notes on a notepad somewhere quiet before typing it up on the computer.

Have you always been creative?

I like to think so! At least, I've always enjoyed creative things such as art, baking, sewing and playing music.

When did you first start crafting?

I always remember the first thing I learned to bake was scones, when I was about 4. Of course, I had a lot of help and supervision from my mum but I always took an interest in learning to bake as a child.

Who are your crafty heroes?

Anyone who knows me knows I have a Nigella Lawson obsession, I love her cooking style and attitude towards food.

Where do you find inspiration?

If I'm running low on inspiration, I tend to turn to my cookbook collection or read some of my favourite food blogs. I might come across a recipe that leads to an idea for another recipe. Sites like Pinterest and Foodgawker always offer something to inspire me also.

What's next for you?

I'd love to make another cookbook in the future but for now I'm enjoying creating more recipes for myself and my blog!
