First attempt at wire wrapping. I don't think I did toooo badly, but the more I look at it the less I like it :\ May consider doing a how-to if anyone's interested :)

Description

First attempt at wire wrapping. I don't think I did toooo badly, but the more I look at it the less I like it :\ May consider doing a how-to if anyone's interested :)

Instructions

  1. Small img 3359 1301676064

What you need: 20cm x 4 of 24 gauge wire Pliers (I used round nose and flat nose which have cutters) Ruler Marble

  2. Small img 3411 1301714286

Measure 20cm of the 24 gauge wire (Note: Uh, I did this a while back so I kinda forgot how much i used and when I started making this tutotrial I used 16cm but that ended being too short D: So I added another 4cm to it. So basically you might want to use slightly more. Sorry for the confusion!)

  3. Small img 3365 1301714185

    Cut four of themmm

  4. Small img 3369 1301677470

Cut a shorter wire (I cut about 10cm) and wrap the four wires together in the centre *Make sure the wires are lined up like that flat! :) ~If you have no problem with this, move on to step 6~

  5. Small img 3368 1301677505

(There's probably a better way to do this, but I've only been doing wirework for about over half a year and this is the way I found worked for me) 1. Bend the wire in half and pinch the middle with pliers but make sure there's a gap for the wires. 2.Place the wire on the other four (as shown in picture) 3. Make sure the wires are flat and take one side of the wire and bend it over the other four 4.Repeat with other end 5.Repeat until there's a long enough coil

  6. Small img 3371 1301677522

Separate the wires into pairs like that

  7. Small img 3373 1301677481

Place marble on the coil at the bottom

  8. Small img 3374 1301677516

    Another picture for step 7...

  9. Small img 3381 1301714271

Bend the wires upwards, around the marble to keep it into place. The marble may fall out (or jump in my case) a few times but keep trying. *Try to keep the sections equal :)

  10. Small img 3388 1301714987

You have to take three of the eight wires and bend then downwards to form that loopy for the chain or whatever. Take two wires and bend it across all the wires so that you can wrap around it.

  11. Small img 3389 1310731184

After it's wrapped around, cut off excess wire.

  12. Small img 3390 1310731582

You'll notice that you have three wires pointing downwards and three wires upward

  13. Small img 3392 1310730796

Take the ends of the wire and curl them. If you think the wire is too long and the curl will be too big, just cut some off but don't cut off too much!

  14. For the one I had made before, I had made it so that the curl didn't have a hole in it, but it doesn't matter so much, just depends on how you prefer it

  15. Small img 3397 1310730881

Curl all three (As I've said, my wire was too short and that made my curls look all weird and starved or something :( )

  16. Small img 3398 1310730892

Now for the other three wires, bend it gently back and tuck it behind wires like in the photo to keep them in place (I did it really badly and messily here, but i hope you get the point :\ )

  17. Small img 3400 1310732444

Curl the three wires that are tucked in

  18. Small img 3404 1310731099

    Done!

  19. Small img 3405 1310731199

I did a few other designs too, but the main concept is basically the same :)

    Have fun! :)
