I am learning the new technique of String art. You can work on different materials like fabric, wood or paper.. sure some else .. It can get tricky if you use a soft paper.. I recommend some rather thicker type of paper so you get the strings straight and tight ;) All is matter of practice. There are many beautiful designs on String Art and I hope (wish) to learn much more with this technique..

I am learning the new technique of String art. You can work on different materials like fabric, wood or paper.. sure some else .. It can get tricky if you use a soft paper.. Instructions

  1. Small 109453 2f2015 06 20 232019 dscn0720

I chose a shell design, if you like it, follow me through :) I am not that good (if any ;) in design .. so forgive not being precise .. Draw some sort of a shell with your pencil, in case (like mine) you need to fine the lines, use the eraser ...

  2. Small 109453 2f2015 06 20 232655 dscn0721

When you have your design, then you can 'fosilize it' ;) with some transparent plastic sheet and a needle... or some sort of sharp-pierce tool.. I used a selo tape to fix the blu paper and with the needle you pierce the holes .. that serve for penetrating with the thread ...

  3. Small 109453 2f2015 06 20 233242 dscn0722

I drew the dots on the design before... I don't know if there's any precision to it ... I just followed my intuition ... random ... to the end they get farther from each other ..

  4. Small 109453 2f2015 06 20 233441 dscn0728

Ok, now it's the hardest, for me, haahaaa .. to explain how I made this... You go from where is the needle - point 1A to the left 2 then 3 to the right and back to 1B ... Is it clear ??? I hope it is .. lol

  5. Small 109453 2f2015 06 20 234053 dscn0729

You create some sort of a beam - ray ... or you create your own way how to make the design visible ...

  6. Small 109453 2f2015 06 20 234211 dscn0731

Like this ... I know, it's not perfect... but I somehow like it ... What have I done? You follow whatever line you like to continue your rays-beams... to finish all round ...

  7. Small 109453 2f2015 06 20 234624 dscn0733

Next step is to embellish the design with some beads... Choose your favourite or matching colour .. I had some white ones and blu-turqouise ones ...

  8. Small 109453 2f2015 06 20 234830 dscn0734

Unfortunately you can't see it due to the lack of light in my flat... Sorry for that ... But this is the finished basic ..

  9. Small 109453 2f2015 06 20 235948 dscn0735

This is how it looks like from the back...

  10. Small 109453 2f2015 06 21 000056 dscn0736

Then you add some four beads in the corners... like shell shaped.. or any you like..

  11. Small 109453 2f2015 06 21 000215 dscn0737

Because I used a soft paper then I needed to use some harder base for also to cover up the back with stitches.. I used the same colour of paper - but harder one ..

  12. Small 109453 2f2015 06 21 000417 dscn0739

Use some sponge material to be able to squeeze out the air bubbles when using a glue for sticking ...

This is the final version... I hope you like it :) Enjoy! Your card is ready to be sent to someone who loves the sea and beaches :)
