The perfect wedding or Valentines gift!

Instructions

  1. Firstly cut out a piece of cotton fabric 100 x 150 mm (approximately the same size as your gift card) and the red linen heart using a paper template. Position and pin your linen heart onto the white cotton.

  2. Once you have experimented a bit and are comfortable using the stamps, stamp your chosen names onto the white cotton using your fabric craft ink. Remove the heart and leave the fabric to dry for a few hours in preparation for fixing. Fixing -Your iron should be set to the highest temperature that you’re chosen fabric will allow, and ensure you iron on the reverse to fix ink.

  3. Next use your paper heart template to cut out fusible interfacing to fix the heart to the white cotton. (Iron to fix) Or simply tack the heart with large stitches, which can be removed after.

  4. Prepare all your beads and support your fabric in a sewing frame.

Individually sew on the beads, working from the centre outwards. Ensure your beading is symmetrical and sits on the linen heart edge. Once complete, remove from the frame and iron the surrounding area to remove any creases.

  6. Measure and cut the mount card that you will need to stretch your fabric over*. Working from the centre, start stretching the fabric over the mount card using a needle and strong thread. After the first few stitches check the position of your heart as it may have distorted slightly, then continue carefully. (* sizes of mount & felt may vary due to name lengths. )

  7. On the reverse of the mount card stitch your ribbon hanger into position on the white cotton. Then cut a piece of white felt to cover the back of the hanger, using fusible interfacing or fabric glue to fix.

  8. Your hanger is now finished and all you need to do is slit a 1mm hole at the top of your card and insert the ribbon through, using a simple brad to cover the hole.
