A charming house to keep tiny treasures.

This is my first How-To, so sorry if it's rubbish! **Hand sewed using blanket stitch** I started off just making a house plushie, but decided half way through that it would make a really sweet purse. I used a ribbon and button to secure the flap, so it would not be wise to keep change in it, because it could fall out. If you used a zip instead, you could use it for a coin purse though ^^ Good luck, and please tell me what you think, or what I could do to improve.

This is my first How-To, so sorry if it's rubbish! **Hand sewed using blanket stitch** I started off just making a house plushie, but decided half way through that it would make a really sweet purse. Instructions

  1. Small dscf4818 1298958032

First of all, I did a VERY quick sketch of what I wanted my house to look like. It didn't turn out very much like it, but from this I could draw out the shapes I would need for the pattern. (added as an attachment)

  2. Trace the pattern pieces onto your choice of coloured felt and cut them out.

  3. Small dscf4830 1298958526

Blanket stitch the four sides of the house together in this order so you have one long piece that looks like this <-- Add windows and a door on the front, then sew closed to form a rectangular shape.

  4. Small dscf4835 1298958756

Sew the roof halves together by blanket stitching the top like so... We'll call the one on the left "Roof A", and the one on the right "Roof B"

  5. Small dscf4837 1298959048

Sew the right side of "Roof A" onto the right side of the triangle on the front of the house. LEAVE THE LEFT SIDE OPEN. This will be the flap to open the house. Sew on "Roof B" to right side of the house, and you should have something that looks like This <--

  6. Small dscf4843 1298959236

Sew the ribbon onto the side of the house under the flap.

  7. Small dscf4844 1298959348

Sew a button on the ribbon and cut a button hole in the roof flap. Blanket stitch all the raw edges and around the button hole.

Taadaa! You have your own teeny house purse! :)
