How did you find CO+K and why did you join?

Through a sewing club I took part in my first year of high school. Someone found a tutorial on how to make hairbows on this site and I thought it looked interesting, so I checked it out more when I got home and ended up signing up.

What projects are you currently working on?

For my shop, I'm planning on making more cameo brooches and some more cameo hair bows. I just finished making the polymer pieces recently. For personal projects, I have a patchwork blanket I'm working on myself using my looms. I've only been working on it when I have nothing else to work on and feel like bingeing Netflix. I'm also about to start making a mini shawl for my friend's cat, because she keeps sitting on the one I made my friend and we thought it would be cute if her cat had one that matched her's.

What does your craft space look like?

My craft space where I do the majority of my work is a small corner in my bedroom at the head of my bed. I have a nice window with a lovely view of outside that lets in a lot of natural light in just the right spot. I work on an antique sewing table that I've inherited from my grandma before she moved to an apartment. The original sewing machine hasn't been attached to the table in years, but I have my sewing machine stored in it now and when it's not in use, I use the spot where the machine comes out for my laptop and the folded out part as my desk or my table for making jewelry. Occasionally, I'll use the antique vanity as an extra surface. All my tools are stored in a table I rescued from one of my favorite fabric stores before it closed or under the extra fold out part of my sewing table. I also have a large bulletin board next to my vanity where I hang all my wire, chains, tapes, ribbons, and elastics. My space may be small, but it's just big enough for me to do what I need to.

Which tool or craft supply do you use the most?

My pliers and my sewing needles. There are the tools I find I use the most and beyond the normal things I use them for. Sometimes my pliers come in when I'm doing a sewing project and sometimes my sewing needles come in when I'm making jewelry.

What do you craft along to?

Depends on what kind of project I'm doing. If I'm measure and cutting patterns and fabric for a project or adding the last touches to a clothing item on my dress form, I listen to music that's in my music library or whatever comes up on Pandora. Normally I listen to hard rock and alternative music. Lately, I've been listening to a lot of Blue Stahli and Kerli when I turn on my music.
If I'm knitting or crocheting, I'll watch whatever I'm into currently on Netflix, pop in a horror or fantasy movie, or watch YouTube (normally Corpse Husband, Lazy Masquerade, and Be.Busta) or listen to one of the two podcasts I'm following (My Favorite Murder and Two Girls One Ghost).

Favorite Craft

Probably jewelry making since I've been doing it when I was in elementary school when I got my first set of beads and wire. I never fully got into the whole wire wrapping thing, but I love trying to pair of different beads to see what colors match up and seeing how my end product looks when it catches the light or how it hangs from the chain or other item I've attached it to. I really like sparkly things. My favorite things to make are usually earrings and chained necklaces. I just make some steampunk earrings that I absolutely love and will probably post here eventually.

If you could learn one new craft or make anything, what would it be?

Woodworking. Whenever I'm in antique shops or thrift shops and see the old fancy wood furniture and the craftsmanship that goes into the piece, I always wish I could make something like that with my hands and be able to carve all the details you see in a lot of older furniture.

Who are your crafting heroes?

Anyone on this site who's projects I've favorited and/or added to one of my lists. I just love seeing all the interesting and unique projects from people of different skill levels and I've learned a lot from tutorials on this site.

GoodKnitKisses on YouTube, who've I've been following since I've decided to try knitting and has gotten me back into loom knitting. Her tutorials are very helpful and I like how she does a variety of needle/yarn crafts.

And finally, The Crooked Feather. She's on YouTube and is the lady known for making giant cosplay feather wings that actually open and close. The amount of work she puts into her wings while making how-to videos for people to follow when she also does some custom orders for people is incredible. I really hope to try following her tutorials to make my own wings some day, but I'll have to wait for when I have a larger working space.
