How did you find CO+K and why did you join?

I was searching for a knitting pattern and found a craft site with an adorable cable knitting pattern. The pattern linked to cutoutandkeep.net. As I clicked and clicked on the various and endless amounts of projects on CO+K I fell in love with the lay-out, the easy use of the site and with lots and lots of projects. I couldn’t wait to share my own creativity as the inspiration came flowing from the site. I love how CO+K doesn’t put a limit to the term handmade. My love for crafts in general is what helped me decide to join, I was determined Cutoutandkeep.net could help me gain more crafty knowledge and techniques. The site also offered the ultimate solution to keep my computer organized and store all my work safely onto the internet and it’s what motivated me and kept me crafting . One other reason for me to join was that I love how the site connects crafty people from all around the world.

What projects are you currently working on?

Currently I’m working on new hat designs for my shop on Etsy.

What does your craft space look like?

Every 5 years I redecorate my craft room. Recently I have redone my space. Changing the colour alone changed my workspace’s entire mood, its entire feel. I figured it needed a new look after looking at dull light blue walls for too long. I painted one wall in bright yellow and the other three are white, it is characteristically ebullient with mixed vintage items such as a green typewriter, camera’s, a German floral thermos flask I got from my girlfriend and knitting books/magazines from the seventies and eighties. I love crafting there since I have good lighting coming from the big windows on the sunny side of my home. I have an old worse for wear desk which used to be my mothers’ and have IKEA Billy bookcases stacked with yarn and craft supplies and two white magnetic boards which I use to hang inspiring finds/pictures/keepsakes on.

Which tool or craft supply do you use the most?

My glue gun, no doubt about it - he’s my best friend!

What do you craft along to?

When I sit down to create, 95% of the time I’ll put on some music to keep my brain entertained, because I find it stirs creativity and imagination. At the moment, I’ve got The XX, Nneka, Bishop Allen, Geographer and a few other Indie alternative bands on high rotation.

Favorite Craft

I love to knit, it’s my passion. Knitting is very practical cause it allows me to be creative anytime and anywhere whether it’d be in the train, in the library or in the park. I find it amazing what designs/shapes you can make with just one single strand. I revel in cable and lace patterns and knitting hats is my favourite pastime. Hats are great knitting projects because they're relatively small and thus quick knitting.

If you could learn one new craft or make anything, what would it be?

I would love learn to design silver jewelry specifically filigree. It’s a riveting type of jewelry design with sterling silver strands of wire, which you cut, bend and solder into place. It’s a very meticulous craft and I love the detail.

Who are your crafting heroes?

My Grandmother she was the queen goddess of crafting, anything she saw and she could set her mind to she could do. I aspire to be like her to own my own boutique one day and spend my days crafting.
