How did you find CO+K and why did you join?

About five years ago I spotted one of my Bebo friends had made themselves a sock monkey! I asked them where they'd found the tutorial, and they directed my across to Cut out and Keep. I fell instantly in love with the site and the rest is history. My first project was of course my very own sock monkey, followed by a severed teddy head pin cushion. I feel privileged to have watched the site grow and change.

What projects are you currently working on?

I'm currently working on my final major project at college, so sadly all other personal projects have had to be set aside. It is focused around World War and I've taken inspiration from air craft structures and patriotism of the time. I'll be producing three complete outfits to go down our catwalk, and I must say it's all rather daunting!

What does your craft space look like?

My craft space is my completely uninspiring living room table. It's very, very messy and usually completely taken over by whatever project I'm working on. It's currently taken up with my World War project, as you can see by the replica newspapers and sketches on the wall. I'm in the stage of finalizing my designs so I have glass buttons, fabric samples, sketches and designs all laid out.

Which tool or craft supply do you use the most?

If you love sewing like I do, I cannot recommend the pattern master enough! It enables you to make smooth curved lines, perfect right angles and even seams effortlessly. At first I thought it was a little pricey, but it was worth the investment because I know I'll be using it for many, many years to come.

What do you craft along to?

I love crafting along to programs like Mr Selfridge and Utopia. When I'm enthralled with the program I know I'll never get bored of repetitive tasks!
I suppose I never grew out of my 12-year-old musical tastes, as my favorite bands include My Chemical Romance, Green Day and All Time Low.
I'm not a huge movie fan, but a few of my favorites include Little Shop of Horrors, Rocky Horror and American Psycho. My love of cheesy dark comedies is probably reflected in my crafting!

Favorite Craft

My favorite craft is probably sewing, but that might stem from the fact that I'm a fashion student and it's the craft I get to use the most! I love to make small accessories like scarves and bags, and garments like skirts, dresses and reconstructed t-shirts.

If you could learn one new craft or make anything, what would it be?

I'd love to be able to knit, but nobody has been able to teach me yet! I think it's a combination of being left handed and having poor hand-eye co-ordination. I've had so many friends and relatives trying to teach me and I must own an entire bookshelf of books explaining it, but it still doesn't click!

Who are your crafting heroes?

I find never ending inspiration from lovely ladies like Audrey Kitching and Kate from Scathingly Brilliant. Bloggers provide wonderful inspiration!
