This week we get to meet Miss Rose, who loves sewing lolita fashion!

How did you find CO+K and why did you join?

That's a tough one, but I believe I was looking for a tutorial (probably a lolita one as this was around the time when I first got into it) and google sent me to cut out & keep. It took me a few weeks to decide to join, because I realised that sharing tutorials on a big community in an easy format would actually be a lot of fun. Though I wasn't too good at sewing back then.

What projects are you currently working on?

Lets see, I've nearly completed a black jumper skirt with crossover straps and teddy bear buttons. Then I'll be moving on to my own take on the kilt (I love tartan so much- probably down to my life long fascination with my Scottish lineage), and I'm mentally working on a rococo style jumper skirt and blouse which will use some vintage net curtains I've had lying around for absolutley ages.

What does your craft space look like?

errrm... it's certainly the messiest craft space I've ever seen... you don't even want to know.

Which tool or craft supply do you use the most?

I would be tempted to say my sewing machine (just got a new one, it's wonderful) but, in reality, my scissors I'm literally using those all the time.

What do you craft along to?

Usually one of my favourite films or animes. Alice in wonderland, Marie Antoinette, rozen maiden, ouran high school host club and recently lord of the rings most often. If I don't at least have some sort of music (I'm absolutley obsessed with David Bowie, queen and kyary pamyu pamyu!) I'll end up signing while I work, which no-one wants to hear...

Favorite Craft

Dressmaking is definitely my favourite, and I've been fixated with clothes and the way they work since before I can remember. I just love being able to wear what I make, and being a full-time lolita, not having to splash out on loads of expensive clothes is a saving grace. As for my favourite things to make, customising dolls (doing face-ups, making wigs and clothes etc.) is actually my favourite as you don't need too much fabric to make whatever you could dream up and the results can be fantastic!

Katherine's Top Crafts

If you could learn one new craft or make anything, what would it be?

Shoe making. Or wig making. It's so hard to choose!

Who are your crafting heroes?

Every lolita who makes their own clothes! Providing they actually know what lolita fashion really is. Nothing puts me off a creation faster than misuse of lace, materials and shaping. But once you've seen the amazing things that they can make, you'll understand why I love them all.
