How did you find CO+K and why did you join?

I got an email from an amazing crafter recommending that I join this website. I always love joining new groups and finding new ways to spread the love of crafting!

What projects are you currently working on?

I'm currently working on two projects:

1. The Weekender Sweater in Knit Picks Comfy (coffee color) - such a fun and awesome knit. This is my second one!

2. A special new scarf design that I'm designing along with my daughter, Rose. I hope I'll be able to share it in a few months :D

What does your craft space look like?

My craft space is really lovely! When my daughter got her own apartment after college, my son took over her old room and I got his room! Yay!

The room is so bright and cheerful. It faces the south, so I have the best light for all of my plants (looove plants!), as well as for my watercolor painting and knitting. I have a comfy chair to knit in, a big artist desk for painting and sketching out patterns and lots of room for crystals, books and just space to lay on the floor if I want to (which, strangely enough, is often!).

I'm very grateful to have my own space and my space really inspires me to be creative, relaxed, open and joyful. I'm trying to work towards a minimalist lifestyle, so I try not to have things I don't need. With crafting, it's difficult because you feel like you need EVERYTHING. lol. I try and pare down my supplies a few times and year. I give or sell items to other crafters and then donate the rest.

All in all, I am so lucky to have such a special space to call my own.

Which tool or craft supply do you use the most?

I think the tools or supplies that I use the most are:

Knitting: Addi Natura bamboo circular needles (size 6 & 7)
Watercolors: Princeton watercolor paintbrushes
Drawing: Faber Castell fineliner markers
Paper: Strathmore Drawing and Watercolor paper
Yarn: Knit Picks Comfy yarn

(Sorry, that's 5 things, not 1! Whoops!)

What do you craft along to?

I love either listening to any Agatha Christie audio book from Audible or watching a show on Netflix or Amazon Prime. My favorite shows to watch Downton Abbey, The Great British Baking Show, Midsomer Murders, Father Brown, Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, The Miranda Show and Call the Midwife. My favorite movies to watch (over and over again) are Breakfast at Tiffany's, When Harry Met Sally, Bed of Roses, The Others and The Sound of Music.

Favorite Craft

Though I have ventured into watercolor painting the past year, I still love knitting the best. It's one of those things that's comforting and so much a part of me that it'll never go away. Yes, sometimes I try a new craft (because I love learning new things!), but knitting to me is as essential as reading a book. It keeps my anxiety levels down, it gives me an excuse to get together with friends, it gets me excited (new patterns and yarns!) and it is a super great conversation starter with strangers in the yarn section of a craft store! lol.

My favorite things to knit are lace shawls, baby sweaters, baby blankets and very simple items like mittens and hats. I used to love knitting socks because of the portability, but I found I didn't wear them much and I have such horrible second sock syndrome...yikes!

Gina's Top Crafts

If you could learn one new craft or make anything, what would it be?

Oh, man, that's a hard one! I guess, right now, I have an interest in macrame - not only for wall decorations and plant holders, but for bracelets, too. Though, there are hundreds of new crafts I'd like to try, too! I recently tried faux calligraphy and brush lettering through Loveleigh Loops and that was A LOT of fun!

Who are your crafting heroes?

I would have to say my crafting heros are:

Knitting: Stephanie Pearl McPhee/Yarn Harlot, Heidi from Vegan Yarn and Amy Boogie from Spunky Eclectic Yarns

Watercolors: Shayda Campbell, Wonder Forest and DearannArt
