How did you find CO+K and why did you join?

I discovered CO+K through word of mouth. I had seen the site mentioned in crafting circles on the web & decided to give it a try. I love how open the community is - it’s like a Facebook for all your crafty friends!

What projects are you currently working on?

Right now it ’tis the season for all things Christmas. I love making handmade gifts for my friends & family, & right now I’m doing a lot of needlework & sewing. The only issue with a DIY Christmas is you can’t share any of your projects without the recipient finding out what they’re getting!

What does your craft space look like?

My craft room is the place where mess is allowed. It’s the place where creativity is encouraged & if clutter is a part of that, so be it. I’ve usually got two or three projects happening at once in this room.

Which tool or craft supply do you use the most?

A lot of my crafting is based in problem-solving, so I use the materials that will get the job done efficiently & cheaply. I also love experimenting with new materials & processes, so my crafting is generally all over the place.

What do you craft along to?

When I’m making things I’m usually streaming a marathon of either Portlandia or The Office (U.S.).

Favorite Craft

I really love sewing - it’s such a transformative way to craft. You can take any bit of fabric & turn it into something new. I love craft projects where the results are useful, like making a new article of clothing or repurposing something old into something new.

M.e.'s Top Crafts

If you could learn one new craft or make anything, what would it be?

I really wish I was more useful with tools. I want to be the handy-woman I know I can be, but sometimes power tools make me nervous (especially power saws!).

Who are your crafting heroes?

Martha Stewart is the first crafty lady that comes to mind. The fact that she hasn’t run out of ideas in all her years of crafting is baffling & inspiring. Some of my other favorite crafters are the gals over at A Beautiful Mess (http://www.abeautifulmess.com), the team at Dream a Little Bigger (http://www.dreamalittlebigger.com), & Hannah from The Homesteady (http://www.thehomesteady.com).
