Ooh how I love being crafty, I'm a real thrifty Miss!
In my spare time I run a local craft group called Crafty Club in a pub-yey! I scour charity shops, boot sales and markets for treasure.In the summer I run a stall called Easy Tiger selling Vintage clothing and upcycled garments and jewellery and have recently set up a Vintage and Craft Market in Colchester by the name of Junk Jamboree.
I've been wearing second hand clothes since I was a little girl. An amazing woman nicknamed 'Shilling Pam' used to go door to door with an old pram stacked high with old clothes. These would be turned out on our living room floor, like our own personal jumble sale- heaven!
Back then it wasn't so cool to wear recycled clothing. I'd sometimes get teased by girls who would say Urgh! your Mum shops at Oxfam. Well now I think the joke's on them as my mum was ahead of the times. Thankfully things have changes and with the phenomenon of e bay and the like people are more open to recycling. One person's junk is another's treasure.
For me it's make do and mend to the end!
