When did you first get in to cooking and do you remember the first recipe you tried?
I've been cooking since about the time I started walking, or at least since I was old enough to pull a chair up to the stove so I could reach it. I was one of those odd kids who would read cookbooks when every other girl my age was reading Nancy Drew. I can't remember the first recipe I made but I do remember spending a lot of time in the kitchen cooking just about anything and everything I was craving.
What's your kitchen like and how do you keep organized when cooking?
Keep it organized? Ha! My general solution to keeping things organized is to pile everything in the cupboards so that my kitchen looks neat and clean. Just please don't open any of the drawers or you'll find out what a disaster it really is!
What tips would you give to someone wanting to become a better cook?
Cook more and don't be afraid to experiment and try new things. And remember to have fun with it!
Who would you invite to your dream dinner party and what would you cook for them?
I throw my dream dinner parties all the time!
In order to make the dinner party guest list at my place you must:
1. Be fun, outgoing and tell great stories
2. LOVE food
3. Be prepared to laugh, talk, eat and drink for many hours
Luckily I have a big roster of friends who fill all the requirements. And just for fun I'll often ask a couple friends to bring someone new and awesome as it's a great way to meet new people.
As for what I'd cook ... that depends on what I'm in the mood for, what's in season and what looks great at the market when I shop. I love to experiment and I think dinner parties are the perfect chance to try something new.
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
I love being outdoors and spend a lot of time biking, camping, riding my motorcycle and hiking. When I'm not in my kitchen I love to be away travelling and try to go somewhere new at least a few times a month.
Which cooking blogs do you love to read?
So many! Serious Eats is one of my favourites.
