How would you describe your style and who are your style icons?
I'm definitely "California Casual" with a hint of boho, dash of rocker, and a love for vintage. Jeans and a flowy top and a bold lip is my go-to look on a daily basis, but I always am well accessorized. My style inspo changes all the time but lately I've been crushing on Stevie Nicks in the 70's. And for hair and makeup, I definitely like to channel my inner JLo or Sophia Vergara. I mean seriously, what's better than glowing skin and big waves?!
What's in your everyday make-up bag?
I switch up formulas for everything I use often because I'm constantly trying new products to review for my blog. I definitely gravitate towards luminous formulas of liquid foundation though, I always use under eye concealer, and I definitely set everything with a lightweight powder. Matte bronzer for a simple contour, blush, brow powder and wax. And I usually have 3 lipsticks or stains in my favorite shades of the season.
What is your beauty routine like?
I like to keep things short and sweet, so I have my hair and makeup routine down to around 12 minutes! My philosophy is that if your complexion is on point and your brows are structured, then everything else is a bonus. I always wear false lashes but rarely wear eyeshadow or liner...a pop of color on the lip is the easiest way to look dressed up without having to take tons of time. Soft waves are my go to hairstyle.
If you could makeover a celebrity, who would it be and what look would you give them?
Well, I suppose I'd want it to be one of my style icons! how incredible would it be to get Jennifer Lopez ready for the red carpet?! I would definitely want to stick to her classic jLo glow though...I'm obsessed with complexion and lashes so I'd definitely not change much about her signature look!
Any tips for someone wanting to mix up their look?
Don't be afraid to experiment! Makeup washes off, so there's no harm done in trying something new! Reading beauty magazines or seeing what's being worn on the red carpet is always inspiring. And if you find yourself saying, "I've used this color for years!" then it's probably time to head to the makeup counter and try something new! Using the same exact products for a long time quickly leads to getting stuck in a beauty rut! Try adding one product or technique that's out of the norm for you each season to spice things up...like a red lipstick in the winter or a shimmery eye shadow shade you haven't tried in the summer!
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
I studied music in college and I play the piano and sing...so pretty much, if it's creative then I enjoy it! I'm always down for a fun DIY project and I LOVE cooking and entertaining. I enjoy making tortillas from scratch and can mix a mean cocktail! I also have a habit of painting my furniture crazy colors (my piano is lavender!).
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Makeup isn't "just" makeup...it's a way to express your individuality, an avenue for confidence, and a celebration of who you are on the inside! So have fun and ultimately style yourself the way that feels right to YOU, even if trend says otherwise.
