Tell us a bit about your home and what you love about it the most?
I live in the house I purchased right after I graduated college, not to date me or anything, but this year made 10 years, and while I love my house, it was meant to be a starter home, so we are hoping to move in a year or so. That being said, I do love my house and over the years I have been able to turn my house into a home. I’ve decorated and re-decorated every room at least a handful of times, this includes home renovations and complete room makeovers, but what I love most about my home is my craft room. Having a space of my own that I love being in makes creating things so much more fun!
What was the first DIY project you did to your home or first thing you made for it?
My first home DIY project was my Living Room Makeover which included several Home Renovations (Picture frame wainscoting, crown molding and my favorite DIY project….My Fireplace Overmantle)
Do you have any tips for staying tidy & organised?
Yikes…...I feel like i’m always and i mean always cleaning, whether it’s after my daughter, husband and dog or a mess I made from one of the projects I have going on, but the one thing that has saved my sanity is having a “home” for everything. That way you and everyone in your home knows where it goes at the end of the day. I am also really big on creating a separate place for all of my craft supplies, so instead of throwing everything in a drawer or bin, I made separate bins/drawers and boxes with labels, so I would know where things are. It is a HUGE time saver when it comes to finding things and it also holds me accountable for cleaning my messes. Instead of leaving them out, in my craft room I think, okay, you know where it is supposed to go, just take 5 minutes and put it up.
If you could tour any celebrities home, who would it be?
I would love to see Sabrina Soto’s house, she is amazing at decorating...and decorating on a budget. When it comes to closets, I would love to see Kate Middleton’s closet, I’m obsessed with her elegant style!
If you had three wishes, what changes would you make to your home?
Let's see I'd start with getting rid of the popcorn ceilings (I tried doing this once and it was a nightmare, I’ll never do it again), Next I'd love to turn my backyard into a beautiful outdoor living space (deck with pergola, fire pit, the whole gamut), and last, but definitely not least I would like to have an upstairs laundry room. The people that lived in my house before us moved the washer and dryer from the kitchen to the garage. I love the extra space in the kitchen, but HATE going outside to do laundry, it’s more than annoying and makes a the dreaded task of washing clothes even worse. :-/
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
I love party and event planning and am always helping friends and family with their events. I also enjoy sewing and am learning to crochet. Aside from that I love spending time with my 2 year old daughter, she keeps me young. Our days are full of dancing, singing and everything in-between.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I am a DIY-a-holic and am always taking on new projects, but more importantly, I love sharing what I’ve learned with others in hopes that my journey will help and inspire others along the way.
